Automatic Switching extruder (oozing and missing material)

Postby AndyWo » Wed Jun 17, 2020 10:27 am

Hello, I have problems printing with two different colors.
1. After the automatic switching of the extruder, 10mm is drawn in according to the setting. But material still runs out of about 10mm. I can not imagine that you have to pull in so much material, because this could also clog Coldend.
2. After the automatic switching of the extruder, these 10mm are missing, which were retracted in at the wipe wall or at the wipe tower, because material is missing at the beginning. You can also see in the G code file that the 10mm are not extruded back here, which was previously retracted in.

Code: Select all

;HEIGHT:0.300
G92 E0
G1 F3000 E-10.0000
T0
G0 F7200 X84.850 Y191.600
;TYPE:WIPE-TOWER
;WIDTH:0.600
G1 F3000 E0.0400
G1 F1400 X84.850 Y203.000 E0.9335

Any tips on how I can improve the two processes?

EDIT: With a Retract of -13mm on PETG it works for my first problem, but i think it's to much, because hot filament will eventually clog the hotend...
For my second problem do I have to go up with the extra restart option, for example 3 or 4mm, so that the material is available at the start for wipe wall or tower?

Would you like to confirm whether you are using Absolute Extrusion or Relative Extrusion?
If you'd like to share your .gcode, .idea and .data files, that will be great.
If you are using Absolute Extrusion, there will have extrusion after travel. If you are using Relative Extrusion, then the gcode doesn't look right.

I use absolute extrusion.
When I use the "extra restart option" in the switching section with more then 1mm, now the wipe tower is printed good enough for me.

Would you like to share your .idea, .gcode and .data files with us?
We may need to dig a little deeper into the codes and try slicing your file to see what's the issue and what is causing the issue.

The G Code File with 13.4mb is to large for a upload. I hope the idea File is enough.

If possible, .data file will be very helpful. As all the settings will be in .data file.

Thanks for your files. We will use your settings to run some test prints and see what we can find.

To answer your second question, if you put 3mm for Extra Restart. Then if you retract 13mm, it will extruder 16mm when restarting.
For the oozing issue, have you tried enabling Cool Down Inactive Extruder?
