Re: Print Failed... Offset 2" to the left??

Postby Biggeek » Sat Apr 09, 2016 12:39 am

OK I went through the machine again.. all screws..everything tight.

Carriage travel in all directions without binding when power is of...but..

When I move the carriage in the Y axis I heard a slight knocking sound.. and I believe its coming from the Y stepper motor.. everything else is tight and nothing is touching anything else.. and it only makes the sound when you move it front to back... so any suggestions/thoughts there? I dont think I have ever heard a stepper motor make this sound before.

check the coupler, might have a defect (sounds like its grinding/jumping a step) might even see litle bits of plastic below them

(just a guess but wont hurt to check)

Nothing wrong with the coupler.. no plastic shavings or anything..

And the sound is nowhere near that loud... but there are more "knocks" when you move it front to back..very faint though.. which is why I missed it the first time I posted

So... We think it is the coupler! It's not as loud as mine, so its probably not cracked in half like mine was, probably just partially. I'm going to give him mine, hopefully it'll fix the problem.

John, if you could arrange to send me another one (preferably 2),I'll let Biggeek keep mine and will get a spare for us to share...

Bad coupler, it should just behave...... but good that the problem might be found (then it can be fixed !)

There have been a couple of others who have had couplers arrive broken.

Has changing the coupler solved the problem? I can totally arrange some spare parts shipping to you. Let me check whether we have stock in US.

Ok consider this a report. Mine is cracked. I won't get the replacement until Wed. So please send a couple to replace the ones we needed to fix :)

Sure thing.
Please send us an email at support@raise3d.com, including your name, address and series number of the printer so we can schedule a shipping to you as soon as possible.

Yes, only 1 case of coupler issuer after certain period of operation.
BTW, I believe the most helpful thing is to get this gentleman his replacement part.

We have the part ready. However, we still have not got the email from you regarding the series number of the printer and shipping address and contact. As soon as you email us, we will ship out the replacement part.

I'll help out John, as Curtis is busy. I gave him my spare, but we're not sure it's right, here's why:

Back a month ago when mine broke, you had toybuilderlabs send me one, plus you guys send me one. The TBL one made it to me 1st, so I put it (my N2). So when Curtis's broke, I gave him the one you guys sent me, but it seems to be the wrong size. It's smaller, with small ID holes. I checked it versus the one that I installed and it is definitely smaller... So if you want to send the proper one to me (at my US address), I'll get it accross the border and to Curtis. And if you wouldn't mind sending a 2nd, I'd sure like a spare one...

Thanks
Rob

Rob, we will have either toybuilderlabs or our us office to send you 2 of them.

One other thing to do it to rap the heating block with insulation. This can prevent the heat from affecting the prints and cause nozzle striking.
