Hello community,
I frequently stumble across and issue with ideamaker 4.2.2.5450 which I just cannot figure out.
If you have a thin wall on a part (width smaller then your nozzle diameter), ideamaker obviously erases this particular area if the "check thin wall" setting is not enabled:
If this setting is enabled (e.g. to 50% single extrusion width) the area can be sliced and printed. Hereby though, the extruder does not just switch from a wider line to a thinner one but prints the rest of the part first, sets down and prints these thin wall seaprately. This leads to z-seams at the start and end of these curves:
The outside shell of the part is therefore non consistent and looks quite awful in comparison to the rest of the part. Since ideamaker seems not to be able to handle adaptive print lines like cura does, I would even take in consideration to rather have an dimension issue then an non consistent look or no wall at all (so just printing it with all the other ouside walls in one curve). But since the dimensions seems to be higher prioritzed than part integrety (so printing this area at all) this just does not seem to work without setting down and printing this area completely separately. This makes sense - a wrong dimension could lead to one part not fitting into another - but in this case dimensions would follow looks - and no, the part cannot be redesigned.
Is anyone familiar with this issue and has figured out a way to print thin walls without setting down beforehand?
Thanks a lot!

Re: Thin wall feature without setting down
For the current version, smaller extrusion width should get better result for Thin Wall structures.
We have added adaptive print lines for adaptive extruder width into developing list.
