E2 and ideamaker preloaded filament profiles

Postby Wokkywokky » Tue Jul 14, 2020 9:28 am

We have an E2 which is a few days old and we are currently trying a few different filaments mainly from Raise3d. PLA works well. PETG is also not bad. Have issues with ABS and getting good bed adhesion and after printing the first layer can be easily peeled away from the print so not good. The Riase3d ABS was done with ideamakers ABS profile and a layer of printafix from aprintapro was used on the bed.

We have also struggled with nylon printing. Dimensionally the parts in PLA are perfect but with Nylon we get a lot of shrinkage and bed adhesion issues, to the point to make a part fit we have to alter the dimensions, but any change in parameters such as bed or extruder temp causes another conflict with the dimensions so we are going in circles. is there a cheat sheet or a more iterative process for tuning in to firstly get good adhesion and then to produce a part with representative dimensions?

All of our materials should work with the BuildTak sheet that is included with the machine. For 3rd party materials and especially Nylons there may need to be some priting adheasion aids added to the be. For Nylon's especially we like to use a PVP gluesick or PA maigoo. You do want to be careful as to how you apply they adheasives to the bed as they can interfere with the auto bed leveling probe and cause Z-offset inconsitincies. So do be sure to apply nice thin even coats.
