Wipe Tower reducing material use

Postby martialgeudin » Sat Feb 23, 2019 10:06 pm

Hello, can someone tell me if there is a possibility to avoid unnecessary loss of material when in dual print one of the materials aren't used any more? For exemple one of the materials is PLA the other HIPS as support material. My piece has a need of support till the piece is build up at 15 mm high. After the 15 mm, no need to have other support. So the Wipe Tower could be used till 15mm to wipe the different materials on. But once this is build to 15 mm, no need to spill more material of PLA on the wipe tower. Because the material doesn't change any more till the last layer or finished piece.

Other strange remark of wiping. Why not wiping the last used material in place of the new to use material? This make oozing of the last used extruder and loose the material in a traveling on the part where it doesn't belong to be when the other extruder is printing.

this will maybe not answer your question. But I think you can choose to use the Support material only for the Dense support layers. That will save you a huge amount. And have you tried if a wipe wall is enough instead of a wipe tower?

You can reach to this section right beside the print template tab.

The Pre-Layer one can help achieve your needs to have different settings at different heights.

Set the start and end height and double-click the settings to add options you need to change.
