Offset Printing with 2 Colors

Postby kthart2020 » Wed Oct 02, 2019 6:46 pm

I have a Pro2 printer, and am looking to print a model with two different colors. I've printed both calibration files and they look fine; but, when I go to print my model, it doesn't work. Basically, the two colors print offset of each other instead of making one singular piece. Do I need to make adjustments to the calibration? Is it an issue with slicing in IdeaMaker? Do I need to print the model at a different angle?
Thanks!!!

Aattached two guides related to nozzle offset calibration. Hope can help solve your issue.

@Vicky I never received the actual gcode files for those files. If I make my own gcode files, what template should I use to make them to ensure the best outcome?

Do you mean dual-extruder calibration with PLA on Pro2?
There are sample models in ideaMaker you can use. And you can slice them with default High Quality-Pro2-PLA template.

@Vicky, Yes, I meant the dual nozzle calibration file, and I saw the idea file in the samples folder. I was asking if you had the specific gcode file that the instructions on your link says are included with the thumb drive that came with the machine. The thumb drive I received had exactly nothing on it.

Thanks for answering my question, and since I have you attention, I'm hoping you can tell me what the difference between the difference between the "nozzle offset calibration" and XY offset calibration is? Seems to me they are the same thing, but there are two different files each link uses.

Thanks for the insight.

Sorry about the gcode issue.
For the calibration, if you go our Support Center, you can find two calibration document. One is called Nozzle Offset Calibration, the other one is called Nozzle Height Calibration.
The Nozzle Offset calibration is to calibrate the XY offset between two nozzles to make sure they will print seamless together.
The Nozzle Height Calibration is to help calibrate the two nozzle in Z direction to make sure they will print at the same height.

Hello, all!

I've encountered an issue with my Pro2 recently. Right now I'm printing a tray for tools. The project has the print swap from one extruder to the other halfway through.
When it does, there's a huge gap. It seems to match the distance between the extruders. It shifts the next color over an inch to the right despite ideamaker showing the model parts lining up completely. The display also won't show the model.

I looked at the guide posted by Vicky (thanks Vicky!) and I think that may be my issue, but I wanted to know if there was any other possibilities?

The gap equals to extruder offset sounds like a XY offset issue. Please check the steps in the following calibration guide.

Not showing the model, do you mean the image of the print is not shown on touchscreen during printing? Please make sure you have not only saved .gcode file but also .data file before printing.
