Nozzle scraping top layer of part when moving

Postby Patronus » Thu Aug 22, 2019 9:18 pm

I use a Pro 2 Plus with Ideamaker. The nozzle scrapes the top layer of an object as it moves to a new position and I can't find a way of preventing that. I had the problem from day one, including with standard settings and Raise3d filament, and have been looking for a solution but in vain. In the case of the attached photo there's a bit of overextrusion which creates a beautiful texture but unfortunately makes the scraping problem a lot more visible. It kind of messes up an otherwise perfect part so I'm wondering how to prevent this from happening. Activating z-hop doesn't seem to make any difference presumably because there isn't a retraction before the move.
In Cura it's easy to prevent this problem by changing "Combing Mode" to "Not in Skin" and then the top surface is always beautiful and unmarked. Do we have something similar in Ideamaker? I guess in Cura this setting generates a little z-hop when moving across the top skin, or perhaps it makes the nozzle follow an existing line instead of ploughing diagonally across the part.

You can enable Z hop Only at Solid Parts under Extruder tab and drop the Top Layer number for the option of Enable Retraction at Bottom and Top of Models under Ooze tab if you don't want all the top solid layers uses Z hop. So that it will enable Z hop at the top solid layer(s).

Vicky, I tried your advice and I no longer see lines on my print. Thank you very much.

While doing a stringing test I have a similar issue. you can see a line going from the right bottom corner to the right pillar. And a line between the 2 pillars.
I have

Z hop at retraction: 0.3 mm
Z hop only at solid parts: enabled
Enable retraction at bottom and top of models:
bottom layers: 2
top layers 2

When I check the preview I see a travel path but not a retraction or zhop on those layers.
Am I missing something?

I would gladly try it. I do have to notice you that I use Ideamaker on a creality Ender 3 machine. I found another bug too when exporting for this machine. Is there a bugtracker where I can search if a bug is already reported?

We only have a list for internal use. If you find any bug, you can post in forum. We are Software and Feature Requst board. We check forum pretty often to collect user's feedback.
Would you like to advise which operation system you are using? So that I can find the right version of ideaMaker for you.

Can I get the trial version of Idea Maker as well....I'm having similar issue with the nozzle dragging across the part on the solid bass layers, which I have set to 10
