Epcot Center Model

Hello everyone,

I thought I would go ahead and share another Raise3D printed custom model. I combined 3D printed elements with some laser cut pieces and I have to say... everything fit together perfectly. I'm continually impressed with the precision of my N2.

This model was created as a favor for a guy at work. It was for a "Trunk or Treat" event during last Halloween and his team's theme was Disney theme parks. His particular part was Epcot of course. He asked me the simple question of "How could he build a sphere?". I took that and went way to far and ended up with a full 3D model and a deadline of about a week and a half. Well... I took a few shortcuts in the end but somehow got it done in time. Here is how it turned out. It was approximately 23" wide x 17" deep x 18" tall. I used eSun PLA+.

I also incorporated some lighting using addressable LEDs and an Arduino microcontroller:






Then, it was time to print:






I laser cut the flat pieces and in Illustrator drew some concrete lines that were laser etched:





Next it was time to paint:

Thank you sir! And sure. Warning though, I designed the base layers for laser cutting, so I'm not sure how well they will print. I'm still at work, but will get everything together when I get home tonight and I'll DM you a link.

Thanks so much for sharing the files! I have found that most people are unwilling to share their work. I really appreciate it! I had a couple questions for you about them though. First, I didn't see the rear middle leg in the files that you sent me. Is there a separate file for that? Second, I was wondering if you used any support material went printing the two dome halves? From the pictures it looks like it is spanning the gap at the top without support. That would be great if that is true. Lastly, I was wondering if you had a link to were you bought the led lights from. I am very new to adding lights to my models so any help with that part of the build is appreciated.

I am working on a pretty detailed model of the Haunted Mansion right now and it is almost done if you are a fan. I will post it on thingiverse when it is ready. If you want to take a look when it is done here is the link to my other models.

You're very welcome, and sorry I forgot that one part. I just sent you a new direct message with a link.

No, I didn't use any support for the dome pieces or anything else. The dome halves droop a bit during the initial inside layers near the top, but quickly fix themselves and make a nice outside shell.

For the one I made here, I used some LED strips that are microcontroller controlled. I specifcically used some APA102 logic ones... but I would recommend using WS2812 if you want to light it that way. there's just 3 solder points (instead of 4) which adds up fast. There are even some that you can change color and brightness via a remote. I think some even have an option to cycle colors, which would be cool for this. Anyway, I hope this helps. Can't wait to see your Haunted Mansion model. I had a request to make one of those a while back. People should love it. There's apparently not a good one available. Nice job on your other models as well.

You have captured the magic of spaceship earth and the essence of walking into Epcot I was wondering if this is available for printing?
