Cosplay Star Wars the Old Republic Helmet

Postby DreamForge » Sun Jul 17, 2016 12:52 am

Printed at .25mm layer in PETG, sanded and primered. The body of the helmet was printed as one piece with the ears and mic. tips as another print.

Wow super! I love it.
Question: 2.5mm layer or 0.25mm?
Is it with the 0.4 buse nozzle?
How is it whit PETG?
Do you have the STL?
Good work!

Sorry. .25 :P

PETG is ok to work with once dialed in. I am using fairly aggressive retraction 4mm at 75mm sec. The first layer needs to almost be air printed a bit, I think I added +.1 to that layer... it does not like to be squashed to the bed. I have a few other small tweaks that may not be needed, mostly flow rate but I am running the plated nozzle so I cannot say for sure if it is required with the brass. My observation on Esun is that it is a bit more brittle than I expected, it has more flex than PLA so it is a bit tougher.

Not sure how Taulman would be as I have not used thiers yet, but their Nylon is nearly indestructible :P

Thank you for your reply. It is good to know more about other materials, like PETG.

You have done a great job at smoothing out the model, please make sure to post some follow up pictures when you are done.
