I'm not the first to extend the top cover, but I didn't want to lose the transparency.
Had some 3/8" Plexiglass that I could rip into four ~4" widths and glue up into a top. Glued up the corners with Weld-On 4, adding reinforcements similar to on the top. Sized to the black molded top, with a lower outside rabbet on a table saw and upper inner rabbet on a router table. Rounded and polished the corners to match the top. Tapped in some strain reliefs to hold the tubes in place.

Looks great. Those rounded chamfers seem a bit MakerBot inspired though!
