Changing a Nozzle

Postby RiserDog » Sun Jul 24, 2016 8:11 pm

Was wondering if there is any kind of guide or other discussion on how to change a nozzle out? I was going to just put a wrench on the block above the nozzle and a socket on the nozzle but maybe there is a better way. Thanks.

That's how you do it. But remember to heat up the block first. Otherwise the threads/surface between nozzle and heat block might have siezed from some previous molten plastic being left.

And be careful with the tourqe when tigthening up the new nozzle. The throath tube that the nozzle seals against is very fragile.

Take some kapton tape and tape 2 thin pieces of wood onto the blades of a vice grip (I used a paint mixing stick). You can dial in the width, grab and hold a hot heat block without cooling it much and it won't mar the metal. Use a box wrench to get off the head.
