Touchscreen freezes

Postby sperman » Tue Jul 18, 2017 1:45 pm

I am having a problem where the touchscreen becomes unresponsive. It has never caused an issue with a print, but the only way to get it working again is to reset the printer. Any suggestions on what may be causing this to happen?

Hi sperman, I was facing similar issue with freeze screen and my N2 screen become quite warm. It's solve after I connect my N2 to electric socket with proper grounding.

Try touching one of the silver screw caps when you touch the screen - I have had that help.
[Remember that this is a capacitive screen and not a pressure one, so pressing hard will only damage the screen and not solve any problem.]
Also check the USB connections on the bottom of the board, I think if they become corrupted due to loose/intermittent connection it can cause this, but there are people here better up on this.

Also, The USB cable hangs straight down from the boards. Raise suggested: Check and hot glue it in place both on the lcd controller board and on the main board. I know, doesn't sound very elegant but it works.

Thanks I will check those things.

Some more information: The touchscreen is unresponsive, and the software cannot connect to the printer, but I can upload files to the printer via the software.

This afternoon, for the first time, it locked up mid-print.

The USB cable is siliconed into the board. It is also ty-wrapped to a support block, but the support block has come un-glued, so it isn't doing anything.

The USB cable was also glued in at the control panel.

If you can control the screen with wired mouse when it goes unresponsive to your touch, it should be more likely to the grounding problem.

I'm not sure what you mean by a wired mouse. I can upload software from a computer connected via a wireless network, but I cannot control the machine from the computer.

I don't think this is a grounding problem. The screen is no longer updating the status of the printer.

The frozen happens during printing? And all status and nozzle stuck with screen together?

The freeze has happened both with the machine sitting idle, and while printing. Most of the time the machine continues to print, but the touchscreen is unresponsive, and the status does not update.

Brandon had me unplug the battery, but that did not make any difference. I think the display is bad, but I'm just speculating.

That sounds like hardware problem.
You may need to consider your supplier for a replacement part.

I do not know if this allowed, I can fix the screen freezing problem. Parts and labour $150 plus delivery.

I'm also having this issue. Touch screen unresponsive and printer frozen mid-print. Just bought the printer at the end of December, so this is very frustrating.

You can contact our support or your supplier, your printer is still under warranty.
