Gantry not smooth in area

Postby RiserDog » Mon Jul 08, 2019 11:44 pm

I have a Pro that is 8 months old. Recently it makes a loud binding sound when the print head is over a corner of the print bed (about 1/4 of the print bed). I greased up the rails with PTFE grease twice and this did not help. I can move the print head around by hand and I can tell it is more difficult in the corner that makes the binding sound. Any solutions? :geek:

I would recommend you check the couplers first to make sure both of them are in good states. Then you can try gantry alignment.
If gantry alignment doesn't help your issue, please feel free to contact our support.
Attached one of N series, but the gantry are similar on Pro2 series and N series.

Do you mean the 2 couplers for the Z axis? Are they in the bottom of the machine below a metal plate?

I saw you mentioned by that your print head stuck when moving into corner, so it should be the XY couplers.

Thank you for the reply. Interesting diagnosis. What do those 2 couplers do? How certain are you that the 2 couplers are the cause of the binding? Also, where can I get a set as they are not on the Raise web site.

The couplers are connected motor shaft with the XY guiding rods. And the printer head is installed on another two gantry rods with sliding blocks sliding on the guiding rods. When motor shaft rotates as you command the print head to move either in X or Y direction, the coupler will deliver the rotation from motor shaft to the guiding rods. When guiding rods rotates, the belt will move the sliding blocks to move forward and backward on the other two guiding rods. You can see the motor shaft and how to connect the coupler onto motor in the following instructions.

If you'd like to get couplers from, you can contact sales@raise3d.com for more information and place the order.
