Software Suggestion - Nesting Parts (or replicating)

Postby Casale8 » Tue Nov 21, 2017 6:02 pm

The duplicate function is nice. However, it would be nice to be able to Nest a part and offset how many at that offset. It would save a lot of click time. :D
If I need to make 25 parts of one type and 25 of another, it would be nice to be able to set one down in the location and duplicate on the platform as needed.

Hi Casale8,

Thank you for your input, we have had this come up more recently as a feature request. We will continue to take note of the request and submit it to the software engineer's.

Want to double confirm about your request. Is the offset you mentioned the offset between different models before duplicate? Which means if you multi-select several models and duplicate together, the duplicated ones should keep the relative position as the origin ones?

The ability to offset (array) x and y patterned relative to the initial user part location placement, perhaps a software suggested best fit of the user chosen quantity of parts, and/or this ability with multiple parts. For multiple parts, the ability to control placement based on height (layers) would be great as well.

Really enjoying how responsive Raise3D is. Thanks!

Is that the same request as the one in following link?
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=906&p=20529#p20500
Or like this?

Picking the support out of that stack would be quite the project.

Didn't get your point. Would you like to explain more about your thoughts?

I mean being able easily control how many I may be able to offset (or array) in the x and Y direction from a (1)/ the selected part on the platform. Not in the Z, that would be ridiculous in my opinion.

The default duplication places the parts in the center, making aligning and organizing for multiple parts difficult. Sometimes the duplication doesn't pick the most efficient way to layout multiple parts.

I took this image to mean it was someone's suggestion for part nesting. A stack of parts like this in a single build would come out looking like a solid block of support material with parts buried in the middle.

This does not look like what we will recommend at this moment, even with PVA support.

My recommendation had nothing to do with Vicky's or Zemlin's image in the Z axis.

The image below is an example of nesting 6 of each part in an arrayed orientation, not necessarily about the way that the duplicate function works at all.

If I duplicated the parts it would do this which is not what I asked for as a recommendation.:

Which means you want to keep the relative position among multiple models when you want to duplicate them together?

Models to be nested or arrayed, together and/or separate. Similar to the array function on most 3D modeling software.

Wow thank you.

Is this Version 3 outside of Beta?

We have just released the version 3.0.4 beta version yesterday. And this version will be the last beta version of ideaMaker 3.0. After this, we will release the official version of ideaMaker 3.0.
