Hi, vicky I have the same issue again on ubuntu 20.04 (Linux ubuntustudio 5.8.0-45-lowlatency) with ideaMaker Ver. 4.1.0.4990 Beta appImage. It crashes at random intervals and is very anoying. the --no-sandbox won't help.

program ends with:

Code: Select all

(AppImageLauncher:3558): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: 16:16:59.115: gdk_pixbuf_get_pixels_with_length: assertion 'GDK_IS_PIXBUF (pixbuf)' failed

(AppImageLauncher:3558): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: 16:16:59.115: gdk_pixbuf_get_rowstride: assertion 'GDK_IS_PIXBUF (pixbuf)' failed

(AppImageLauncher:3558): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: 16:16:59.115: gdk_pixbuf_get_width: assertion 'GDK_IS_PIXBUF (pixbuf)' failed

(AppImageLauncher:3558): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: 16:16:59.115: gdk_pixbuf_get_height: assertion 'GDK_IS_PIXBUF (pixbuf)' failed
*** longjmp causes uninitialized stack frame ***: terminated

When I start Ideamaker I see another error too regarding problems with a desktop theme. But I can not reinstall the materia theme because it will mess with my ubuntustudio setup.

Code: Select all

qt5ct: using qt5ct plugin

** (AppImageLauncher:3558): WARNING **: 16:16:59.115: Pixbuf theme: Cannot load pixmap file /usr/share/themes/Materia/gtk-2.0/assets/progressbar-trough.png: Laden van afbeelding ‘/usr/share/themes/Materia/gtk-2.0/assets/progressbar-trough.png’

It may be related to gtk+ theme.
Please check whether the issue in the following link can help.

I tried the solution in the link, but sadly enough IM still crashes at random times. The problem with the gtk+ theme I can not fix

I recently switched to IdeaMaker and have the same issue, running the appimage (v4.1.1.5050) on Ubuntu 18.04.
It crashes seemingly completely random, sometimes while editing settings, sometimes while just having it open in the background. On rare occasions it runs fine for an extended time.

The error I get:
*** longjmp causes uninitialized stack frame ***: ideamaker.real terminated

Parent is shutting down, bye...
AppImage unmounted

I run the appimage in firejail but I don't think that's related, it has access to what it needs.
For those that end up here due to a google search:
- Do not use the ipc-namespace firejail setting, this made random menus render as black boxes.
- With memory-deny-write-execute enabled ideamaker won't start (Why? Applications should not do that).

After some digging I think I might have found the root issue, which seems to be a bug in the old version of libcurl that comes with IM. Have a look here https://stackoverflow.com/questions/9191668/error-longjmp-causes-uninitialized-stack-frame.

What probably happens is that IM checks for updates and triggers the curl bug by doing that.

For testing purposes I run the appimage without any network access and that seems to fix it, I was unable to get it to crash so far.
Maybe disabling all check-for-updates settings works too but I have not tried that yet. (edit: yes it does)

Curl version >= 7.32 seems to have a bugfix but I don't know which version IM ships with (tried to find out from the so-names; IM comes with libcurl.so.4.3.0 but 7.32 compiles to 4.3.0, too, so, no idea).

Can we please get a new version with updated dependencies? No network also means no upload-to-printer and it could probably use a version bump for security reasons anyways (https://curl.se/docs/security.html).

We have figured out the issue and generated a beta version of ideaMaker to solve this issue. Please let me know if you have interest in helping us test it.

That was fast, thx. Of course I can help with testing.

What I found out since creating the post is that disabling all network access isn't necessary, simply disabling all check-for-updates checkboxes is enough to prevent the crashes.

Would you like to advise what operation system you are using?

Sure am!

My machine is Intel QuadCore i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 32 GB RAM, running MS Windows 10 Home v. 1803, build 17134.228 on an MSI B75MA-P45 motherboard with a SAMSUNG SSD main drive.
It has RealTek High Definition Audio and a SAMSUNG U28D590D VDU driven by an NVIDIA QUADRO K620 Video Card. There is a Logitech C930 webcam and I have Windows Defender as Anti-virus with Firefox and Skype running in the background.

Ubuntu 18.04 on x86_64 with amd gpu, using the appimage.

And if you ever feel like making a ppc64le build and need testers, I'd gladly help with that too.

What we have fixed should only be related to Linux. Issues in Windows might be related to something else.
Would you like to advise when you normally meet crash with ideaMaker? When moving models after loading into ideaMaker or it happens during some othe operations?

Moving models is the major cause

If someone can tell me how to get a log file of a crash I'll be happy to do so for you.

I just found ideaMaker a few days ago and I really want to try the texture on a surface but it crashes consistently in Windows 10, mainly when starting a slice, but also just when the stl model is imported
I have 8GB Ram and virtual memory.

Pity because it looks like a capable program.

Thx Vicky, I tried the new version and reenabled the update-notifications. It works fine for me, no crashes or other issues :).

@Vagulus: Could you try to temporarily disable all update checks (Edit / Preferences / Update - uncheck everything in there)? If you're affected by the same bug, this workaround should fix it.

Just sent a download link for ideaMaker for Windows. Let me know whether it works any better.
