Hello,
cool a new version, but it does not work on Linux, not the DEB- and not the APPIMAGE-file. I'm working on xubuntu 20.04

Any idea?

Best regards

Can you run appimage file in terminal and share a screenshot of the error message?

We have added more lights in the new version preview to make some of the top surface not as dark as before so that users can view the structures on top very clearly than before.

I must do a reset of my PC, because however I had xubuntu 20.10 beta on my machine. After fresh installation of 20.04 it works fine.
Thank you for your work an help.

The main difference is the lights on both front and back of the model.

Neither is blurry. The new lighting scheme offers more illumination to the interior walls. The "old" view has harder shadows, which increases the contrast of the smaller edges.

These appear to be fixed lights. You can change the object's orientation to improve the overall view. Note the corner shadow on the "new" view - it has a harder shadow, but brighter interior. The exterior is washed out slightly due to the increased brightness and shallow depth of the layer lines.

The only way to achieve perfect lighting (on the part of the viewer) is to have adjustable lights and settings for global illumination, but that only adds complexity to an increasingly feature-bloated application. This is a compromise, which for most users is more than sufficient.

I am a professional animator, so lighting is one of the primary skills required and a subject I'm pretty familiar with.
