Hello everybody,
maybe this topic was discussed before, but I couldn't find it.
I have a model, that needs some support structrures, which aren't generated correctly. This means that several parts would be printed in the air. I'm using ideaMaker version 3.6.1.
What I found out is that it seems to (also) depend on the thickness of the first layer. This one is sliced with 0.15 mm layer thickness and 0.2 mm first layer:
and here the first layer thickness is reduced to 0.15 mm, all the rest was kept the same:
So it seems that some parts don't need support anymore, if the first layer was printed thinner (and the slicing layer move down a bit).
And something like this might also be problematic:
And it doesn't change, if i change to pillar support.
Do you have any ideas?

Would you like to share your .idea, .gcode and .data files with us?

Re: Weired Support Generation
I compressed the .gcode and .data as 7-Zip archive, because Zip became too large. The other files (.idea, .stl, and my slicing settings) are in the .zip file.
Also I used a slightly different part, which shows the problem more obvious.
I also found out that the automatically generated support structures vary with the height of the first layer. And not just slightly, but at certain layer heights, overhangs are detected and supported, at other heights, overhangs are missed. Weired...

Re: Weired Support Generation
Thanks for the files. We have found an issue of generating support for smal floated area.
For current version, you can only use Manual Support to add support manully.
We also suggest to increase the value for support expansion under small floated features to support the higher features better.
You can also modify Support Infill Type to be Rectilinear to increase the strength of supports.

Re: Weired Support Generation
Will you try to fix the issue in an upcoming version of ideaMaker?
