IdeaMaker: very inefficient infill

Postby Oleksiy » Sat Jul 25, 2020 4:36 pm

Hi Raise3D,

I make very simple test for Raise3D E2 and I was surprised how infill works in IdeaMaker:

1) Step one

2) After that it stops (but why?) and start from other place

3) Stops again (why!?) and start fill the hole

4)Stops of course again and starts to fill other hole

5) but it is still not the end! Now it fills 5 small gaps, for this action the print head should be moved 5 times!

Totally we have now 9 movements across the printed part but in this case 2 is enough.

How it should be:

1) Step one

2) Step two

But what it means practically?

One simple but big model with standard settings (Raise3D E2 Standart Profile) sliced in ideaMaker needs ca. 20 hours to be printing

The same model with mostly the same settings needs in Cura or Simplify3D only something about 9 hours and ca 60g less filament.

We are trying to improve the taveling path now.
The difference of printing time should be mainly caused by Acceleration and Jerk values. The default estimate printing time of Acceleration and Jerk values should be different from the default values in printer. If they are the same, the amount of filament should be the same.
Would you like to share your model files with us? We'd like to run tests.

Of course, you can find the model files by Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2016317)

or just in the following attachment:

Due the different algorithms between slicing softwares, the minor difference of acceleration, jerk and printing speed values will cause a big difference. After modifying these values, the printing time of Cura can be added up to 16 hours.

And different slicing software has different way to generating solid fill. If using 0.8mm as Solid Fill Minimal Width will drop to 12-13 hours.
