Sequential printing not possible for multipart

Postby FOGD.NO » Sun Apr 05, 2020 3:15 pm

I want to print coasters with logo and they are two type of filament. Wood and copper. I can't seem to group these to "one" item so I could print sequential. Is this just not possible?

Due to the design of E2 X Rail, we don't suggest to place two models for different extruder along with each other.
Try move the models a little staggered in Y direction or just use auto arrange models. ideaMaker will find the best spots to place models.

The problem is that the multiple parts are treated as two parts and not one.

I got your point. You are asking Sequential Printing for Dual Color models, right?
Sorry ideaMaker only support singles nozzle print for Sequential Printing at the moment.

Would it be included later?

We wil add it into developing list. But using dual color sequential print, the size and quatity of the models will be pretty limited.

That might be, but I print dual color coasters and they are small but dual part. If I print them one layer at a time I get stringing because I use wood filament.

What is possibility, that You add option to use right extruder for sequential printing?

Ok, I understand, that "multicolor" printing its hard to code in sequential printing, but option to use right extruder instead of left (for whole printing) should be rather easy to implement.

Thanks for further explanation. We have already added this request into developing list.

You add to developing list, but this can be achieved on already existing IM software, with little cheating IM :P That means, that is much more easier to add this directly to IM ;)

Right nozzle, sequence printing ;)

Technically, yes, it's possible. But we want to make it more clear to use and control in future versions.

Well, I don't think multicolor printing in sequential mode is more difficult to code than in non-sequential. And, coding right extruder sequential printing is as easy/difficult as for left extruder, so I've been really amazed (and disappointed) these features are missing in IdeaMaker. Competing slicers (like Cura) have had these for years now. I'm new to IdeaMaker, and so far I've found these mentioned limitations as the most severe drawbacks in IdeaMaker.

BTW, when was IdeaMaker initially released?

Sequential printing with multiple nozzles will have different calculation results of the section being taken while nozzle switching and homing on IDEX or Non-IDEX printers.
Based on what we known, Cura does not support sequential printing for multiple nozzles.
