IM 3.4.1 Feature request: optional removal of ";data start [...] data end" in end gcode ?

Postby Wybren » Tue Jun 11, 2019 7:48 am

I have noticed that IM adds an enormous amount of lines to the end gcode, it looks like this:

Code: Select all

;Data start:240208:bb1e056e1b83e627228a26cfe8417ab6
;SURFQSAtIFBSSU5UREFUQUlZDHzi6E17riyBkcQfrme/bVk3UpJ8P+8a6tVESnsUL1pCPeSj6X0gDBU
;exAUS62rSWyQMqHxe/niPuSg4GmAANUBi48zlCRBhIR+uBWfrBJLUdwy7fD+deom2KCYeZgguR1Lv/P

[...]

;s/Nw+MfD+dKNzheH8fLQt3GgqwxrxJTjkTM89hAd0p6zgPOZ0ZC6Uq3LF8SnYUaVpIVO3C/BgReH5wz
;2gC6wfeWzcM6zNtvWuYuisjF3EaWiA9gaP3FBNtTHvAcTiFa6Y+RAyrfD+dG+rVTUp7FGlaLi2Bo5F9
;fwwhHq4FZ+sE0ls3DKh8P50b6tVNSnsUaVouPYGjkX1/DCE=
;Data end

I print on both a Raise3D printer and a Prusa printer. The Prusa considers these gcodes as 'incomplete', and it gets stuck at the end of the print. Instead of going through the end gcode, it just stops moving.

I would like full control over what ends up in my gcode. Can this 'data dump' be an optional feature that can be disabled?

May I know more details of the printer you are using? And what's the string of the error message?
The code you attached is about .data file. Normally when firmware is reading the gcode file, the lines start with ";" should be regarded as comments.

I'm using a Prusa Mk3 with the latest firmware 3.7.1. However, the message only showed up after updating IdeaMaker firmware from 3.1 to 3.3 (and persists with 3.4).

The error message is:
"File incomplete. Continue anyway? Yes >No"

I think the Prusa reads the characters behind the ";" signs and finds 'illegal' characters. It probably doesn't like "+", "=", "/" or ":" .

We have checked Prusa's code. They are using fixed windows size to help judge which can't check the comments starts with ";". We can consider add an option to disable data file's information.

So I tested this by deleting these characters. That didn't make a difference.

I found out today that Prusa firmware checks the last 20000 bytes of gcode for the M84 command. Is that what you mean by fixed window size? The additional data IM adds is about .24MB or 240000 bytes. So the M84 command can't be found in the last 20000 bytes.

That would be perfect!
