BUG IM 3.1.7 Travel Through Holes

Postby rrroonn » Sun Oct 28, 2018 12:51 am

Hi, I would like to see the following fixed to improve the user experience and the resultant quality of the output. Hopefully it will not be a difficult thing to do.

Bug Report
Title: Travel Through Holes - unwanted side-effects
Description: Using the setting "Avoid Travelling Through Holes" [Other ] has an unexpected side-effect. If this option is enabled, then it also disables almost all filament retractions which can lead to serious oozing throughout the print. Not travelling through holes is a great feature to have, but it should not come at the expense of retractions. As there already is a "Enable Retraction" [Extruder] option, that setting should be honoured regardless of whether "Avoid Travelling Through Holes" is enabled. I would consider this a bug.
Version: 3.1.7
Language: English
Operating System: Windows 10
GPU: Intel HD
32bit or 64bit: 64bit
Screen Resolution: 1920x1200
How to trigger: see description above
Expected result: Enabling or disabling the "Travel Through Holes" setting should only impact the head movements through or around holes and/or the object boundary.
Real Result: Enabling this option also disables retraction which leads to bad quality prints.

You can try the latest version of ideaMaker. But for the retraction issue, you may need to disable the option for avoid retraction inside model.
