So many different ways to adjust the flow - how does it correctly work?

Postby finy007 » Wed Mar 08, 2023 7:32 pm

Hello everyone,

I have to ask question about our Pro3. So far, I have not been particularly satisfied with it and have achieved better results with my cheap Creality CR6SE printer than with the Pro3. However, this is probably more due to my lack of expertise than to the printer itself.

I still don't understand the context of the flow settings. Today, I tested new filament from filamentworld and did the following:

Printed a temp tower directly on the Pro3
Printed a flow cube directly on the Pro3, which gave me a value of 88%. All sides were around 0.8mm, with one side at 0.85mm.
Created a new filament profile in IdeaMaker and set the flow to 88%
Created a custom slicing profile for the filament and set the flow rate to 100%
Sliced the model and started the print
While the printer was performing the auto bed-leveling, I opened the "Adjustment" menu directly on the printer and saw a flow rate of 100. However, once the print started, this flow rate was automatically set to 90. I don't understand why or where this value comes from.

Also, how does the automatically calibrated flow rate (88%) compare to the flow rate I set in the filament profile (88%) and and compare to the flow rate I set in the slicing profile (100%) for the new 88% filament, compared to the arbitrary flow rate of 0.9 or 90% set in the printer itself?

I'm really confused and don't understand it.

Especially since the extrusion seems to be too low, the lines are not properly connected. Where do the gaps between the lines come from?

Thank you!

Hello,
I understand you. I also see no connection between the flow values displayed on the printer and the settings in IdeaMaker.
Can anyone explain this? Will bei very helpfull.

Sometimes they’ll reply here…but usually it inevitably results in having to engage with the them using the ticket system. You can also attempt to call.

In the gcode file there are the following lines:
;Filament Compensation #1: 90.00
;Filament Compensation #2: 90.00
They set the flow rate at the start of the program. I still haven't figured out what changes them in ideamaker though.

And as soon as I sent that message I think I found something...
Click the gear to the right of your filament profile, then Advanced Tab. Bottom left corner Override Filament Settings check box. I turned that off and my flow went from default 90 to 94 that was the calculated and saved value.
