Copperhead Heater Cartridge
Copperhead Heater Cartridge
I'm planning on doing the Slice Engineering copperhead swap and I was wondering which heater cartridge to use. I've seen various posts here mentioning 30W, 40W, and even the 50W that Slice sells. I know that the E2 can't use the full potential of the 50W, and that's fine as I don't have any plans to be printing in filaments that need it anyway. But can the E2 safely use the 50W up to its limit of 300C? I'd rather use one that is equal to the stock heaters and less likely to cause critical failure than having slightly faster heat times.

Re: Copperhead Heater Cartridge
Myles at Slice gave me the following info:
"the items you ordered will work for the Raise3D E2 as is shown in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoPA16PNtb4). This being said, you will need a new 24V 30W heater that will fit the 6 mm heater cartridge hole in our Copperhead Hot Block. Unfortunately, the diameter of the heater that comes stock with your E2 is too small."
It looks as if the E3D precision heater cartridges https://e3d-online.com/products/high-pr ... cartridges will plug straight in.

Re: Copperhead Heater Cartridge
I use the 50 watt heating cartridge without any problems.
Re: Copperhead Heater Cartridge
I also think to upgrade to slice engineering copperhed: I plan to install this 24V/30W heating element: https://e3d-online.com/collections/prin ... cartridges.
But a question: someone what type is original E2 Heating element? I would prefer to use a new connector instead of cut and solder origial E2 heater wire.

I use the E3d 24v 30W heater. The original is supposed to be 30W, so I stuck with that. I used it for several months with this upgrade and very happy with it.
I bought some new white connectors online and cut and crimped the wires from the E3d heater.

Re: Copperhead Heater Cartridge
OK thanks for feedback! I have found connector. I pla to try change default E2 hotend with:
https://www.3djake.it/bondtech/copperhead-hot-block
https://www.3djake.it/bondtech/copperhead-heat-break (Standard version, the shortest...)
https://www.3djake.it/e3d/cartuccia-ris ... precisione 24V30w type
https://www.3djake.it/e3d/v6-nozzle-x-175-mm
I had printed 1500h of PLA wit lid close and without relevant problem with standard E2 hotend, but I suspect I was only lucky! Now with same 2 pla filaments used for all my prints, I'm not able to print! Costant clogging (I think... I can load filament, printer starts printing but after few layers filament stop to exit from nozzle even if extruder continues to rotate). And this on both side: left and right!
I had tryed resetting printing, cleaned and lubed all parts., disassembled printing head and cleaned. Changed nozzle but nothing!!!
Not possible to use only Raise3D filaments on a 3500€ printers!
I hope going on slice engineering sistem I could restart printing without problems! Someone has experiences of relevant positive changes after installing slice engineering instead of standard E2 hotend?

Re: Copperhead Heater Cartridge
I had clogging since the first day with non original R3D pla; after Copperhead upgrade no more clogs with several pla brands and many hours of printing.
Expensive but highly raccomanded.
