Printer pauses and grooves in the Z axis.
Printer pauses and grooves in the Z axis.
I have the E2 and I am very disappointed with the product. My printer is 5 weeks old and keeps freezing up and causing blobs.
In addition, the surface is full of grooves, which is not allowed due to the guides.
It doesn't matter whether I use Simplify3d or the Ideamaker.
Only when I increase the minimum segment length to 0.172 in ideamaker, there are no pauses. Only now I can no longer print round parts.

Could you provide the Gcode and .stl of the models that you showed in the images?
Do you notice these defects on every geometry of models or only circular ones?

Hello,
the blobs are only present with circular movements (the printer stops for a moment). The waves in the Z direction are the same for round and rectangular components. You can feel the waves with your finger.

Re: Printer pauses and grooves in the Z axis.
When the segment is too short, the extrusion amount will be small too. That when Minimal Segment Length is needed.
Re: Printer pauses and grooves in the Z axis.
Does that mean that it is normal for the printer to stop when making circular movements because the segments are too short? Why is the print image so wavy in Z?

Re: Printer pauses and grooves in the Z axis.
Do you see this type of artifacting on all filaments or just this white filament?
Re: Printer pauses and grooves in the Z axis.
I see this on all filaments, even on PLA matt
Re: Printer pauses and grooves in the Z axis.
I can confirm I have the same problem. It happens often when there are lot of small consecutive extrusions.
Reset Gcode E Lenght on layer change in Ideamaker helps but not solve the problem.
If is possible, another solution is prepare your stl file for slicing with a less dense mesh.
Maybe a new firmware can solve the problem.

Have you tried to level the X-axis with the function "make X-axis level up" in the settings?
You can also try lube the Z-axis lead screws

Hello modiug,
but then I have to choose the mesh so large that I can no longer print curves. I also don't see that I spend a lot of money and the printer then works worse than my Ender3. My supplier will send me a new motion control board within the next few days.
Hello Vicky,
yes, I have already used the Align axes function. I also lubricated the lockers with grease. It doesn't work.
I also added a video motion where you can see that the print head remains in place during the infill.

I completely agree with you.
These are just adjustments pending a definitive solution, I hope in a firmware fix.
Also I made a video similar to yours.
Let us know if a new motion board solves the problem.

You may need to make a ticket cause there is most likely something else wrong with that machine if its banding like that.
Re: Printer pauses and grooves in the Z axis.
I can confirm my E2 is also pausing the same in your video causing layer gaps.

Re: Printer pauses and grooves in the Z axis.
How are you printing the files?
I can print perfectly round objects without pause if i put the file on the local storage. If I print via Cloud, it pauses.

Re: Printer pauses and grooves in the Z axis.
Sending it directly to the printer over WiFi, then selecting the file from the printers menu.
Re: Printer pauses and grooves in the Z axis.
The pause occurs from the local memory as well as via USB, only when I unplug the control board and send it directly from my PC via USB it prints without a pause

Has the problem finally been solved in the meantime? This is really annoying. Bei einem Drucker der so viel kostet sollte das doch langsam mal gefixt sein...

You normally bounce the ticket if done by a european customer to the reseller, is this time different?
