Nylon on the E2

Postby leonhart8888 » Tue Sep 29, 2020 4:12 am

Does anyone print regularly with Nylon on the E2? I seem to be getting heat creep when I have the printer closed. I've managed to get some success with the top open but just came home to a failed print which had heavy retractions.

I'm printing BASF Ultrafuse PA at 240C.

Would you mind to clarify exactly what is happening while printing?
Is the filament jamming or does it just stop extruding? Does it jam/fail as soon as the print starts or sometime in the middle of the print?

Yeah, the E2 has heat creep problems. Im finishing up an upgrade to slice engineering hotends and heatbreak with an improved cooling fan as well. Ill update you on if this solves the problem. If not, watercooling might be in order.

From a slicer standpoint, ive noticed the heat creep failures for non Raise3d filaments when there are many retractions. Maybe decrease them until a robust hardware fix can be developed by the E2 community?

I narrowed it down to a retraction issue on the tool change. The default retraction on the E2 during a tool change is 10mm. This was causing jams with the Ultrafuse PA. I've lowered it to 2.50mm and it seems to no longer jam.
