Shipping Costs of Parts in USA

Postby xygote » Mon May 23, 2016 8:15 pm

Why is shipping so high?

$98 UPS from CA within the continental US. FOR 2 THERMAL COUPLERS @ $9.98. Something is wrong here. I understand the $14 USPS but UPS isn't that much more.

Please choose it from the US warehouse and the price should be normal. If still having problem, please email to support@raise3d.com for further assistance.

Its messed up. No matter what is chosen, it has crazy shipping prices.

Chose a glass build plate for an N2+ from the US warehouse. Chose shipping destination as OH in the US. This is the shipping costs it gives.

Priority Mail at $ 46.60 USD
Priority Express Mail at $ 103.08 USD
UPS Ground at $ 115.14 USD

For a spool of red filament.

Priority Mail at $ 16.84 USD
Priority Express Mail at $ 48.52 USD
UPS Ground at $ 99.66 USD

Something is not right and needs to be looked into. Cause I ordered some stuff a couple days ago and paid way too much in shipping. My order was 180ish and the cheapest option was $70. I paid it cause I need those parts but its not right. I would have expected $20-30 tops for a box of this size.

Just to test it I chose EU and CN as the warehouse for a red spool. All the shipping is the same.

I paid $100 shipping for a $325 order ( 6 spools and a replacement glass plate and buildtak) 2-3 weeks ago.

I had assumed that shipping was still free and this was a shopping cart glitch since there was no other shipping option available.
It's my fault for not following up, but that is outrageous. I wont order anything else unless prices come down.

We are looking very closely at this issue and trying our best to work it out.

John, for at least a little while two weeks ago there was a 1st class mail option for small items. I remember seeing less than $3 of shipping when I had just one nozzle in my cart. Can we get the 1st class mail option back for small items?

So to add insult to injury my N2 destroyed itself over the weekend. Ripped the fan, air director, and the entire hotend out, scraped up the BuildTak, tore off the temperature sensor, and cracked the glass build plate. I have had nothing but problems with this unit since it came out of the box. And now to replace all these parts (nope, they will not warranty them) I'm looking at $138 in parts and $58 in shipping. Seriously?!?!?!?! So I reduced it to just 2 fans and the 2 of each of the sensor and heater - $27 in parts, $24 in shipping. WTF?

And if that ain't enough of a sharp stick in the eye, it's not even going Fedex overnight. Nope - US Priority Mail. And it's my only choice.

John@Raise3D, hear me now - fix this today. Right now. Immediately. Stop looking at it and fix it.

In case the 'jr' in your nick abbreviates 'junior' is there by any chance the 'senior' around somewhere to help you get back some manners? Just curious...

USPS Shipping.png

This is the rate we got from USPS and we are suffering as much as you do. As soon as we find a cheaper way to ship, we will update it.

That's abnormally high for usps. Is your system estimating a package per item? Or perhaps too large of a box in the calculator? Delivery/signature confirmations? Or excessive insurance?

I don't get a "deal" with usps but cross country shipping for priority mail is usually in the $12 range for a couple pounds and a smallish box

Flat rate boxes don't always integrate well with e commerce software though. A "feature" that makes for angry customers and apathetic merchants.

Just wanted to say that I got my replacement hot end in and the postage cost on the label was higher than what I was charged for shipping.

John@raise3d - THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!! After working with you via email, you cancelled my order. You told me to re-enter it and things would be better and indeed they were! $108 worth of stuff (hot end, 2 fans, 2 heating elements, and 2 thermocouples) and shipping was $10! Much better. NICE JOB!!!!!!

The shipping prices still seem much higher than they should be.

For example, $11.01 to ship a single nozzle right now. For comparison, USPS site shows prices around and $3.40 for first class parcel and $7 for various flat rate packaging options (if it fits, it ships, no weight limit, and you could probably fit half the items on the spare parts list into a single flat rate box).

$15.34 to ship a $20 spool of filament. USPS shows $10.66.

These aren't deal breaker prices, but it seems like it would be in everyone's best interest (customers and R3D) is shipping were more reasonable, as I'm sure filament and spare parts could be a significant revenue generator. That is, if people aren't scared off by shipping and try to find similar stuff elsewhere.
