Purchase N1 or N2

Postby MrOnkelChiller » Wed Jan 04, 2017 9:30 am

Hello together!

Im on to purchase a Raise 3d printer.
And i think its going to be the N1.
But it seems like nearly everyone here in the forum owns a N2 or N2 Plus.
So I compared the specs again, but i couldn't find any difference except the build volume.

So my question is, why is nearly no one purchasing a N1, although the buil volume is nearly the same as on the Ultimaker 3 for example. Are you all needing the 30 x 30 x 30/60 cm build volume? Or is there a crucial difference between N1 and N2/N2+ ?

I'm actualy on a Arduino Materia 101, with 10 x 14 x 10 cm volume, so 20 x 20 x 20 would be a big change...

The price difference here in Germany is 2300€ for dual N1, and 3300€ for N2... Maybe the difference isn't that big in US?

I would be happy if some of you could decribe the reasons for buying a N2, not a N1! :)

Sorry for my bad english...

Kind regards,
Luis

If 205x20x205mm is enough for your needs go for N1. I think many N2 owners want the bigger build volume just in case even if they don't really need it...

@Thruster: Thanks you fot the answer...

Are you active on 3D-Hubs? Or have you ever been?
If yes, are there orders for parts which are that big?

MrOnkelChiller, I have a N2 because of the potential print volume. However, I have never printed anything that requires it. Cost isn't the only consideration. The N2 is BIG and heavy. It would be easier to live with a N1 if that's the size you need.

I push the N2s size limit almost every print. If not in the XY plane then it's in the Z plane. Personally I think the price point isn't the N1's best attribute.

I am very happy with my N1 and am surprised by the number of N2 owners on this forum. The N2 is considerably more expensive here and no better, just bigger. But of course sometimes size does matter ;-)
