Inactive extruder is heated?

Postby Markus64 » Tue Jul 14, 2020 8:07 pm

My Pro2 is currently configured so that only the left extruder is active.
Now I happened to notice that the right extruder is also heated. In the current case - see picture - to 76 ° C. Radiant heat from the left, active extruder can be excluded. Firmware up to date. Can someone observe something similar?

At the begining of prints both hotends heat to the set temperature to ensure that the shifting of the hotends can take place, especially the firt print after power on. What you are observing is the residual heat from the hotend cooling down.
If you can't confirm whether it is a normal action or not, please share serial log so we can double check everything is working as it should.

This example was not the first printing job where both extruders are brought up to temperature. I printed this file again, but at 270 ° C and could see that the temperature of the right, inactive extruder rose to 78 ° C.

It actually doesn't look having temperature errors in your log. It may be residual heat from the other hotend especially if the machine is fully encloused while printing. If so, that should be fine. Or if you see the heating issue is more serious than what we assume, please let me know.
