No! They have to be loose enough that the nut can move sideways to allow for imperfection in the threaded rod.

Correct, leave them loose.

They are loose on our Raise 3D Pro2Plus 3D printer too. Leave them as is.

Do they grab whatever hardware is on the shelf when putting these printers together? Our Pro2 Plus has black oxide screws with springs under the nuts.
