Pro2 Webcam/Camera - Camera Preview Not Valid

Postby Jolley110 » Tue Jan 01, 2019 3:47 pm

Has anyone come across this error before?

From the printer touch panel, the camera is connected and can even take pictures. Also ideaMaker can detect if the camera is connected or not (the icon disappears) but we just can't view the feed.

Would you like exit ideaMaker, then open and connect your printer? Once the new connection settled, please first confirm whether you can see camera icon on top of the home page. If so, go to touchscreen to use camera to take a picture.
Sometime, you may need to wait for a few minutes to see the camera icon shown on computer. It might be due to network speed.

TLDR – Our network was blocking the camera ports.

Below were our troubleshooting steps.
1. Used the netstat command and filtered it by the process ID of ideamaker on the laptop, we identified that there was one TCP connection between the printer and the laptop.
2. We narrowed it down to firewall issues, so we decided to try using the network crossover cable to put the laptop we had for the Raise3D on a private network with the printer.
3. We turned off DHCP on the printer touchscreen and it was assigned a private network address.
4. Then turned off DHCP on the laptop as well and set the address to be in the same subnet as the printer.
5. Under these conditions, the camera could communicate with IdeaMaker and send a live feed to the program on the laptop.
6. We identified that there were two network connections on different ports from the printer to the PC.
7. Finally, as a check, we reconnected the printer back to the main network and turned DHCP back on again – this took us back to the original issue: no camera feed and only one network connection from the printer to the laptop. *We also couldn’t use a wireless connection to connect to the printer, even when the VPN was running on the laptop.
8. We opened both ports which seemed to resolve the issue

Just to summarize, we determined that our network firewall was blocking the camera traffic on the TCP port used by our printer and a network administrator resolved the problem by opening the port on the firewall.

By connecting the printer to a laptop with a network crossover cable (creating a private network), we determined that the camera was communicating on a separate port (TCP port 30216 on the Raise 3D Pro2 side) from the Ideamaker-printer connection (TCP port 31625). When the printer was connected on our network, the camera port was being blocked by our network firewall. After our network administrator allowed traffic on ports 31604/31625, we could see the camera feed when running Ideamaker on computers inside our firewall.
