Pro2 safety

Postby Trev » Sun Sep 08, 2019 7:57 am

Hello, I ordered a pro2 on friday but having read about the thermal runaway issues with the temp sensor losing its connection I'm quite concerned to the point of considering canceling my order. Has Raise3D resolved the issues or are they ongoing. I do feel anything with safety should have a proper electrical fix as what happens if the microcontroller locks up (ignoring the fact about a watchdog timer) ect

The Thermal Runaway detection is hardware based. We have a protector on motion board when thermal runaway is detected, it will cut off heating from motion board and shows a thermal runaway or temperature sensor error on screen. On N series it is an add-on connector, on Pro2 series, it has been buit on motion board.

Unless you have a problem where your motion controller board get shorted. Then it runs away. I had that issue on my Pro2 printer. Luckily I was right there when it happened and the whole hot end started smoking badly. I had to shut off the power. Had to replace the motion controller board to get it all fixed. Everyone seems unconcerned about it that I have talked to though. Don't really understand why.
