Which fan cooling option for the N2 with E3D adapter?

Postby Charles » Tue Apr 28, 2020 6:44 am

I ordered an received greenlee's E3D adapters and have E3D parts coming in to install. I'm still confused which is the best fan shroud to use with the E3d hotend using the adapter.

I read about using the berd air cooler and it looks very cool, but I believe that I have to edit and compile my own firmware to make it work. The idea of doing that correctly worries me. Also, I would have to keep up with the modifications each time Raise update their software. The firmware modification is beyond what I'm comfortable with.

So I'm looking for cooling setup for the E3D hotend using a fan. I see this design on Thingiverse here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2745671

Is that the design that everyone is using with the E3D hotend who is not using the air cooler?

Thank you!

Hi Charles,

bit late but how have you faired with the berd air?

I wonder what you needed to modify the firmware for though? As far as I understand the berd air the fan signal gets translated by the little mosfet chip. So all modifications would be hardware...

cheers
