Mainboard replacement.

Postby Diagro » Sat Feb 22, 2020 11:10 pm

I've come into possession of a Raise3D N2.
It's around 5 years old based on the date on the battery.

It has a problem which has stopped it being functional.

The screen unit has fried. Some components have burnt out, therefore it doesn't function.

I thought about simply controlling the printer via the USB port on the controller mainboard. Unfortunately Windows shows that the USB cannot be recognised and refuses a connection.

Is this intended? I was under the impression its an arduino type board.

My next thought was... Simply swapping out the mainboard for a new one, and running everything from it. This would require extensive rewiring as the extruder board would not simply work with a new mainboard.

Has anyone tried replacing the mainboard?

If so, how did it go?

I'm looking at a SKR 1.3 board at the moment.

Hello all.

Update to this.

I plugged in a LCD screen I found on Amazon here: ... UTF8&psc=1

Once I reversed the connectors, it displayed MERLIN 1.1.1 and then gave me control to use the printer like any other. And the on board SD card reader works to print from.

I'm currently printing a housing for it to go in the same place as the original.

Quite happy considering I got this printer for free ^.^
