Re: Recover or restart after interruption?

It might be clearer if the choices were "continue with print" or "start a new print"

Re: PC mini clog after PLA

Thanks for taking the time to write so much! As it turns out, this was all my fault. There were two reels of clear filament, and I grabbed the wrong one. I was printing Taulman T-Glase using PolyCarbonate settings. Once I put the correct filament into the machine, it printed correctly, immediately. ...

PC mini clog after PLA

I have had problems printing clear Ultimachine PLA. I can get the print started, but eventually the extruder is printing into the air and the extruder motor is clicking. I spent another day on that, and have given up. I then switched to Taulman T-Glase and printed two objects without a problem at 24...

Re: Bondtech BMG upgrade for the N series

Thanks for your perspective. I had no idea there were two gears, one on each side. It was never mentioned on the BondTech page. I went back, and they mention DualDrive, but never explained what it was; it is not mentioned in the FAQ either. That does seem like a useful improvement. I guess one gear ...

Re: Bondtech BMG upgrade for the N series

For those of you who have switched to the BondTech, what are the real-world advantages? I understand the theoretical advantages of lower weight, and the real difference in resonating frequency, and the simpler mechanics for loading and unloading filament. But are there prints or materials that you c...

Clear PLA extrusion problems

While I can print perfectly with the colored PLA provided with the printer, I have problems with clear PLA from UltiMachine. I have read forums around the net, and it seems that I should try - reduced retraction - reduced temperatures - feeding filament faster - canola oil It is the last one I want ...

Feature Request: faster print termination

I started the wrong print, by accident. That print required that the build plate was at 100, which takes quite a while. I killed the print, but the printer insisted on getting up to 100 before it would quit. I finally just power-cycled the printer to save some time. It would be helpful if the printe...

Feature request: remembering window sizes/positions

Every time the main IdeaMaker window appears, it is the same size and in the same position; and it never is in the size and position that I chose previously. Same thing with the post-slicing Preview window. It would be nice of IdeaMaker remembered where the user last put these windows, and what size...

Slicing bugs

Parts of this STL are so thin that the slicer fails. Horizontal gaps appear on each side of the nostrils. I don't mind the slicer failing, but there should be error messages to warn the user that something has gone wrong http://www.jonbondy.com/sample.stl When this STL is sliced, pieces of filament ...

Re: bad slicing

You can download the STL from http://www.jonbondy.com/sample.stl; the slicing error should be obvious. The problem seems to occur because the model becomes very thin at one point. It would have been helpful if there were informative error messages when the slicing failed. Some other slicers fail, wh...

How/where can I report a slicing problem? I can supply the STL and a screen shot of the problem.

The Craftware slicer does what I want: it flags overhangs for both top and bottom layers when in vase/spiral mode. Seems like a great analysis tool.

Re: Limitations of spiral/vase mode

@AHB: thank you! I have tried to find slicers that will highlight areas of models that will require support, but have had little luck. The Auto Support feature in IdeaMaker shows you where the support would go, but that does not help for the undersides of the tops of hollow structures. Does anyone k...

Re: Extruder printing in air with non-Raise3D PLA

Julia Truchsess had this to say: "The clicking problem you describe is typical of all-metal extruders with some PLAs. The PLA gets warm in the feed tube, turns to jelly, and can’t be pushed. For some odd reason in my experience it seems to happen more with “premium” varieties of PLA, and yes, p...

Limitations of spiral/vase mode

I have printed some things in spiral mode that came out wonderfully, but some have had defects. This is not a complaint about the printer or the slicer. When the surface is vertical, all is well, but as the surface tends towards horizontal, at some point the filament strands can no longer bridge the...

Adding Taulman T-Glase

I tried to add Taulman T-Glase into IdeaMaker. I was able to add it into the drop down for the left extruder, using the gear icon. But when I try to Create a template, the new filament type is not available in the template drop down list. I quit out of IdeaMaker and came back in: the new Taulman is ...
