Re: Getting ready for MRRF 2018

The stack of "waste" material next to that robot is pretty amazing. Do you think that you put about 1/2 of your filament into that tower?

Re: Are soluble supports worth the hassle? Also do they work better in the Ultimaker 3?

@Vicky said "PLA and PVA works just fine when comes to dual printing for the N series as long the settings are dialed in correctly." I wish that were so.

Re: PVA Support Material Test

I cannot get my PLA/PVA prints to work as Raise3D did. Since Raise3D does not sell PVA, I cannot determine what product they used. It would be helpful if we could learn exactly what PVA product we need to purchase in order to get PLA and PVA to work together. Even better, since Raise3D got this to w...

Re: Trying to print PLA with PVA support

I found this about PLA and PVA: http://forum.raise3d.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=960&p=9040 I tried PVA at 180 and 190. While the PVA sticks to the build plate just fine, it does not stick to itself, probably because it is too cold. At 200, the PVA begins to stick to itself on the support struct...

Re: Trying to print PLA with PVA support

Is there a FAQ or Wiki entry that explains how to adjust the Support settings? The PLA print with PLA support printed perfectly, but the support is firmly attached to the print. I guess that I need to lower the support just a hair, to separate it from the print, but the two Vertical Offset values ar...

Re: Trying to print PLA with PVA support

I am printing the same print with two colors of PLA, one for the real object, and one for support. It is printing flawlessly. So, the only challenge now is to find a soluble support that I can print with a dual extruder Raise3D N2 and PLA. Anyone have any suggestions? I guess the PVA that I purchase...

Re: Trying to print PLA with PVA support

@JetGuy: thanks for the response regarding the paths.

Any insight into getting the PLA/PVA to work, or do I need to head straight for the Palette+ and ignore the second extruder on the Raise3D?

I will try, again, to attach the photo. It failed with an HTTP error last time (as it often does).

Re: Trying to print PLA with PVA support

I had to kill the print, because the PVA support stopped printing. I was able to fix the problem with the PVA extruder by doing an Unload and then a Load, so it was a temporary clog, not a "real" clog. This is similar to the problems I had with clear PLA. Can I expect PVA to have the same ...

Re: Trying to print PLA with PVA support

I adjusted the right extruder so that it was level with the left, and tried again. Things started out better, but as you can see, the outer ring (which is supposed to store the pre-extrusions) has collapsed into the print in two (opposing) places. I assume this is because the PVA is having trouble a...

Trying to print PLA with PVA support

When the printer arrived, the right nozzle was a bit higher than the left. This was fine for one-extruder printing, but now that I'm trying to extrude PVA with the right nozzle, there are the obvious problems (PVA not sticking to the bed). Are the nozzles supposed to be at the exact same height? I s...

Inefficient extruder motion in IdeaMaker

When I print this planetary gear, there are moments when the extruder moves briskly from left to right to left. It is as if it is going to locations that are sorted in Y but not by X. The optimal path would be a circular one. I'm not sure how important this is. Just wanted you to know.

Re: One extruder or dual-extruder?

I have been running a dual extruder N2+ for about a month, printing PLA, PC, and T-Glase, and only using the left extruder. I've never noticed a problem where the right/unused extruder bumped into anything. Perhaps I have been lucky so far. I had intended to use the dual extruders for PLA and solubl...

Re: PC mini clog after PLA

Thanks for taking the time to write so much! As it turns out, this was all my fault. There were two reels of clear filament, and I grabbed the wrong one. I was printing Taulman T-Glase using PolyCarbonate settings. Once I put the correct filament into the machine, it printed correctly, immediately. ...

PC mini clog after PLA

I have had problems printing clear Ultimachine PLA. I can get the print started, but eventually the extruder is printing into the air and the extruder motor is clicking. I spent another day on that, and have given up. I then switched to Taulman T-Glase and printed two objects without a problem at 24...

Re: Bondtech BMG upgrade for the N series

Thanks for your perspective. I had no idea there were two gears, one on each side. It was never mentioned on the BondTech page. I went back, and they mention DualDrive, but never explained what it was; it is not mentioned in the FAQ either. That does seem like a useful improvement. I guess one gear ...
