Re: Filament "dust" appeared in print head by extruder gear and idler wheel

I literally meant that the link you provided was very interesting, and also that I don't personally see any aluminum wear on my own extruder (yet?) I try to update my posts with things I learned and fill out context to help anyone reading who might be in my shoes. I honestly have never read somethin...

Re: BuildTak works good, if you can cope with it!

"Scotty Peeler SP-2" Buy some and don't look back. Got mine from Amazon. Perfect for getting that first little edge up. I found that for larger prints with the Raise3D PLA, a bed preheat (10+ mins) with bed at 60C and printing the raft at 215C gives better adhesion. There might be more to ...

That load process was news to me, I didn't know what PRELOAD was either - lucky I was reading this thread!

Re: Anyone Try PolyMax?

What temperature did you end up printing that at? Looks great! I started with black PolyMax myself yesterday, I saw a visible difference when printing a small object at 200C versus 205C. 205C had a (slightly, but visibly) rough appearance to the layers, with slight blobbing and a wavy look. I change...

Re: How to remove custom filament settings?

Oh, I've done that. I'm referring to custom filaments (not slicer profiles/templates) Printer -> Filament Settings This gives a list of filament settings, and the ability to add a new one with "Add Filament" I added one when I was playing with the Flowrate (it's 94% on default PLA, I was p...

How to remove custom filament settings?

I made a custom filament setting while experimenting, but I'd like to get rid of it. I can't see how to remove one - can anyone give me a pointer?

Re: Is there any way to use a skirt WITH rafts?

OK, thank you. There always seems to be a little nub of stray extrusion at the start which the nozzle wants to push around and run over when printing a raft. I thought maybe a skirt could help get rid of it somewhere that it won't get in the way of the nozzle.

Re: Allow a different extrusion temperature for raft vs model

I am still using Raise3D PLA (yellow) which came with my machine, I want to move to Polymax PLA eventually but still learning my N2. Default temperature in ideamaker profile is 205C, so that's what I am printing at. I misspoke when I said 215C was too hot for the model. I only meant that during test...

Is there any way to use a skirt WITH rafts?

I use rafts and I'd like to use a skirt to prime my extuder and get rid of the little whisker of filament that always seems to get in the way. I see the skirt option in the ideamaker slicer but it doesn't work if raft is on. If I turn raft to "none" then it will print a skirt. Otherwise it...

Allow a different extrusion temperature for raft vs model

I noticed something while wanting to try printing at 195C (and noticed too somewhat at 205C) When printing a large raft, there is a lot of heavy extrusion and I noticed when trying to print a very small figure (and going down to 195C with PLA) I sometimes got a "knocking" sound --- which I...

Re: What should I tweak to avoid this extra extrusion at edges?

For anyone who might be reading and finding it useful, here's what I settled on. After a lot of testing and tweaking, I decided that some zits (at the sharp corners of some facial areas) were unavoidable on such a small model and with a 0.4 nozzle. I settled on getting results that looked like this ...

Re: What should I tweak to avoid this extra extrusion at edges?

No real improvement in the end result, still zits at the edges, and in roughly the same amount. I've solved the little bit of stringing and the droop with some extra cooling via a small external fan I position to blow on the print, but the zit problem remains. I'm keeping a big spreadsheet record of...

Re: What should I tweak to avoid this extra extrusion at edges?

It just so happens I am at this moment trying a print with it at 1.5mm retract (halved the experimental 3.0) and it's doing better than last time - it passed the point it failed at previously, anyway. Fingers crossed. I'll look into bondtech, but after all the dough I dropped on my N2 I'm afraid my ...

Some additional information related to this popped up while I was working on another issue. See this post for photos: http://forum.raise3d.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=504&p=4785#p4785 Short version: I have cleaned filament dust out of my extruder head probably 4 times total since getting my prin...

Re: What should I tweak to avoid this extra extrusion at edges?

Thank you for the suggestion, I will play with those settings. I noticed something while doing this. Interesting result from increasing retraction amount (from 1.0mm to 3.0mm) and speed (from 20mm/s to 40mm/s) is I got grinding filament and some air printing. But curiously the filament does not appe...

I did another print that I stopped half way through, and I see what looks like over-extrusion also on the inside.

What should I tweak to avoid this extra extrusion at edges?

This is using the stock N2 settings for high quality (0.1mm layer height) using the Raise3D PLA that came with the printer. the sharp borders around the "face" all have some extra material, like the zits on the bottom (under the left eye in the photo) or like a fuzzy "eyebrow" ov...
