Re: How fast Do you print? And how fast Can one print?

I print a lot of very large parts, so I've tried to push speed in ways similar to zemlin. The main thing that I've noticed is that over 60mm/s in any material, the prints become noticeably more fragile. Printing slower than 60mm/s definitely improves strength for me.

Re: motor connectors glued in place?!?

The use of hot melt, silicone, and other adhesives to secure connectors is an industry-wide best practice for electronic devices. Devices like these printers are subjected to significant vibration during the shipping process. During normal use, the printer vibrates itself. During handling, repairs, ...

Re: Section Marks on buildplate

Interesting! Did you scribe it with a glass cutter or tungsten scribe? That looks like borosilicate glass, is it? You made me realize that it may be a good idea to spray paint the bottom of the plate. You could paint it black or dark grey, with the stripes in place. Black paint has the possibility o...

Re: Improvements by using TMC2130 driver.

Great work ABH and thanks, Trinamic, for weighing in.

I have what might be a stupid question. Are the silentstepsticks that Trinamic linked drop-in replacements for the existing Raise3D stepper drivers?

Re: Be aware - Actual buildplate temp lower than temp setting

I saw the same thing with a piece of glass painted black, measured with a thermal camera, Casel8 is right, I set my bed to 108C to hit a desired temp of 100C. There is a +/- 5 deg C variation across the bed.

Project: Scan a motorcycle helmet and print attachments using Einscan Pro+ and SpaceClaim

Hey all, thought I would share a project. A customer of mine has a novel idea to make attachments for motorcycle helmets. The video doesn't reveal the FULL idea, but it shows how I designed the base part of the geometry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ty1GcUyEuk I recently purchased SpaceClaim and...

Such a nice print. How much surface prep do you do before painting something like this? Do you prime, fill, sand?

Re: RINGING the electromechanical challenge

I have an accelerometer setup which can collect vibration data. I'd like to pursue this further. I could use help with the analysis side. I'm specifically looking for someone with some programming skill in Python, or some experience in signal analysis with Matlab. Anyone interested in working with m...

Re: Forum error pictures linked in incorrect order in post

PHPBB does this wacky thing where the attachment has an "ID" that changes as you upload additional content. It starts at index 1. Try attaching even the same image several times to a post, and inserting them inline, you can watch it happen. If you go back and edit your post, you'll see tha...

Re: ABS - partial insufficient strength of printed objects

Hey tinkerer, I don't think this is normal at all. My machines print ABS very nicely. Looking closely at your picture, I see a number of odd defects that don't look like they were part of the original model. I marked them in red in the attached image. Did you design the model? To me, it looks like t...

Re: Carbon Fiber Print surface??

I had them custom made at a friend's optical fab shop. My .01mm flatness spec was pretty easy for them. :). I also quoted them out, if we can get 10 interested buyers, we can get them for $95.00/ea with a 3 week lead time. I also had to fabricate new clips for the back of the bed. If there was inter...

Re: Carbon Fiber Print surface??

I'm using 6mm borosilicate glass plates that have been ground flat. They are excellent, but they increase the heat-up time by a few minutes.

Other people like PEI sheets. I have a sheet of it around, but haven't tried it yet.

Jetguy, can you point me to the info about what happens if it comes unplugged? I glued mine in place with some hot-melt, but I'd like to learn.

The gcode doesn't say anything about acceleration that I can see, so I assume it is stored in firmware.

Re: RINGING the electromechanical challenge

Reduce mass and/or acceleration/deceleration and ringing should decrease proportionally. Right! You can see that in this gif http://forum.raise3d.com/download/file.php?id=5422&mode=view - removing one stepper motor reduces the amplitude and increases the frequency of the ringing. Still a long w...
