Re: Using Ultimaker Cura with a Pro2

I managed to get my Pro2+ working with Cura. This is what I did: 1. Download and extract the latest zip file from this thread and follow the instructions. You may have to join the forum to get access to the zip file. https://community.ultimaker.com/topic/27542-raise3d-pro2-cura-4/ 2. In Cura under p...

Re: Could use some help with Carbon Fiber

I use my Pro2 Plus for CF and GF work all the time and it works well. In my opinion it needs no mods or upgrades to be a workhorse. I print at 300C for days on end with some of the trickiest materials and it just keeps going. I think you have an issue which needs to be found and fixed and I bet it w...

Re: Overhang settings not working (solved)

Turns out the printer's display is heavily delayed as I suspected and as Labirynt also said. I tested with 1% normal fan speed and 100% overhang fan speed. The fan clearly kicks in as it should, when it should. The fan speed on the display however is stuck on 1% even on long overhangs. So I can't tr...

Re: Overhang settings not working

Vicky, I can see the print speed dropping at the overhangs as it should (on preview and physically while printing) however I can't see the fan speed changing. It should go up from 25% to 50% at overhangs however it constantly remains at 25% if I look on the printer's display.

Re: Overhang settings not working

Thanks. I assume the gcode above relates to a bit of overhang? So according to what you've shown me the fan should shoot up to 50% at that point. When I look on the printer's display the fan is permanently on 25%. Perhaps the screen isn't updated frequently enough to reflect the fan status in real t...

Overhang settings not working

For some reason I can't get overhang shells detection to work. I keep a close eye on the fan and it never kicks into action even when printing extreme overhangs. I made sure that Cooling is activated on the profile (the fan is at 25%) but it never goes up to 50% as per attached settings. Do I misund...

Thanks Vicky. It will be good if that number is a variable that we can adjust, at least in my opinion.

Re: ideaMaker 3.5.2 Release Notes

Vicky, I see there's a new feature called "Overhangs Shells Detection". What is considered an overhang? Is it anything over a certain number of degrees? Of so, can this value be adjusted? For instance at 45 degrees I may not want to use this feature but at 55 degrees I may want to.

Global z-offset not working as expected

I want to move away from Buildtak for many reasons so I started printing with the Wham Bam system recently. I also got myself a sheet of high-temp glass 3mm thick. There's a 2.2mm difference in thickness between these two so I thought that I could compensate for it using the global z-offset, in othe...

Re: Gradient infill

I also saw this video and thought it was a brilliant idea. I'd be very interested in this feature since my prints are all destined for end-use where I need the maximum strength per gram of material. I can imagine it's difficult to implement especially in 3 dimensions and may cause some artifacts but...

Prime blob suggestion

Ideamaker's filament prime function (prime blob) works OK most of the time but does cause issues. It is very untidy and has caused a few failed first layers in the past when it gets dragged along with the print. Why not use a prime line like Simplify3d? Or even better - the Markforged solution which...

Re: 1st Model Layer after support

There's usually one or more empty layers between the top of the support and the base of the supported part (to keep the support from fusing with the part) so the first layer above the support won't be nicely squashed flat like all the other layers.

Re: Use both extruders for large prints (and LED question)

There's unfortunately no automated way to switch from one extruder to the next when filament runs out. It would be a useful feature though especially since these machines are often used for large prints. I think others have asked for the same feature before.

Re: Issues with the Pro2 Series

I guess it all depends on your definition of "tinkering". If you mean tuning for better print results or for new filaments types, unless you buy a closed system printer like Markforged or Zortrax you will often tune the (software) print settings to get the best results, especially with new...

Re: Dual Extrusion via IdeaMaker... SUCKS

I have also found IM less than intuitive for dual extrusion, especially if you mix and match materials all the time like I do. In the end I can get most things done with IM (Vicky has been great in giving advice) but duel extrusion handling doesn't feel slick and efficient in my opinion. What I woul...

Re: PLEASE HELP with ASA

Dave, the type of build plate you use (glass in this case) has no effect on the print quality, just on bed adhesion. Your problem in my opinion is extrusion related. Ramming the nozzle into the glass is unlikely to damage the structure or mechanics of the machine, and even if it did it would not aff...
