Re: Gradient infill

I also saw this video and thought it was a brilliant idea. I'd be very interested in this feature since my prints are all destined for end-use where I need the maximum strength per gram of material. I can imagine it's difficult to implement especially in 3 dimensions and may cause some artifacts but...

Prime blob suggestion

Ideamaker's filament prime function (prime blob) works OK most of the time but does cause issues. It is very untidy and has caused a few failed first layers in the past when it gets dragged along with the print. Why not use a prime line like Simplify3d? Or even better - the Markforged solution which...

Re: 1st Model Layer after support

There's usually one or more empty layers between the top of the support and the base of the supported part (to keep the support from fusing with the part) so the first layer above the support won't be nicely squashed flat like all the other layers.

Re: Use both extruders for large prints (and LED question)

There's unfortunately no automated way to switch from one extruder to the next when filament runs out. It would be a useful feature though especially since these machines are often used for large prints. I think others have asked for the same feature before.

Re: Issues with the Pro2 Series

I guess it all depends on your definition of "tinkering". If you mean tuning for better print results or for new filaments types, unless you buy a closed system printer like Markforged or Zortrax you will often tune the (software) print settings to get the best results, especially with new...

Re: Dual Extrusion via IdeaMaker... SUCKS

I have also found IM less than intuitive for dual extrusion, especially if you mix and match materials all the time like I do. In the end I can get most things done with IM (Vicky has been great in giving advice) but duel extrusion handling doesn't feel slick and efficient in my opinion. What I woul...

Re: PLEASE HELP with ASA

Dave, the type of build plate you use (glass in this case) has no effect on the print quality, just on bed adhesion. Your problem in my opinion is extrusion related. Ramming the nozzle into the glass is unlikely to damage the structure or mechanics of the machine, and even if it did it would not aff...

Re: Serious blobbing with ABS

No this wasn't completely resolved. I tried tuning my settings for days and the best I could do in the end was to dial the jerk and speed settings way down, which made a difference. But the underlying issue is still there. In Raise3D's defense, it's very hard to get rid of the seam on a cylindrical ...

Re: PLEASE HELP with ASA

This does not look normal at all. I print ASA (Formfutura Apollo X) all the time and it comes out almost flawlessly. In my experience regular ABS settings will take you 95% there. Your settings appear ok from what I can tell. What are your nozzle settings and extrusion width? What is the size of the...

Re: Ideamaker Support Structures Not Generating Properly

Vicky, I have the same issue where Ideamaker doesn't correctly auto-create support for floating features no matter how small I make the pillars. I'm not willing to drop support angle down to 30 degrees to compensate for this error when other slicers allow me to print at 55 - 60 degrees with support ...

Re: Pro2 Printing from Filament Dryer

My Pro2 Plus has two inlet holes close to the bottom of the side door through which the filament can enter from an external dryer. Doesn't your Pro2 also have those holes? In my experience the inside of the Pro2 becomes something of a filament dryer itself when printing. I dry my filaments externall...

Anyone using Pro 2 with Cura?

Has anyone here managed to get a Pro 2 running on Cura? If so can you please share the start and stop gcode and any other settings & values I may need? I simply can't get my Pro 2 Plus running on Cura. The N2 profile on Cura certainly doesn't work for my machine.

How to print with different nozzle sizes

How do I go about doing the following: Outer shell (left nozzle 1mm) ABS 1mm extrusion width, 250C, 50mm/s, 2mm retraction and a few other individual settings Infill (right nozzle 0.6mm) CF/Nylon 0.6mm extrusion width, 270C, 60mm/s, 4mm retraction and a few other individual settings With Cura it's e...

Re: Nonplanar printing

This is an interesting concept and I would also welcome the capability but it will only really be practical on a single extruder machine with lots of room around the nozzle. Nonplanar printing on my Pro 2 for instance will be severely limited because of the small difference in height between the act...

Re: ABS Always fails

I mostly print ABS and it can be tricky sometimes but a 5% success rate means something is wrong. I don't know your specific machine (I have Ultimakers and a Pro 2 Plus) but the basic principle is the same. From what you say it sounds like a first layer / bed adhesion issue but let me ask first, wha...
