Z Hop Value Suggestions, Reasons Why, Philosophy

Hello everyone, I want to give the z hop option a change, since I do run into the issue of prints being tipped over frequently. After looking around for a while I have found some suggestions of what value to use for it here and there, but hardly with any explenation to why one would use this and not...

Re: Print Quality Issue, PLA on PLA, Dual Extrusion

So I recently learned that I made a rookie mistake and left the lid on the printer, while printing PLA, because I was misled by the sticker on the lid saying: "Just when printing PLA, no need to use this cover". This I thought meant that I only had to put the lid on while printing with PLA...

Re: Top Cover, Lid, What is it good for?

Hello pmb, ... and there I thought I'd know English  Thank you very much for the explanation. I wish I would have had this information weeks ago. My understanding of it was exactly the other way round, as in: I am looking at the cover and read "Just when printing PLA!" and then the co...

Top Cover, Lid, What is it good for?

Hello everyone, I am fairly new to the world of 3D printing, and I would like to get a better understanding of why one needs the top cover/ lid of the 3D printer. What is it generally good for? Is it to avoid potentially toxic fumes evaporating and poisoning the surrounding air, is it to keep the te...

Re: eSUN PVA

Someone here has filament dry machine. Since we don't have one in our office, we put the filament spool into our printer. Put it on the build plate. Close all the doors and put on the top cover. Then set the bed temperature to 65. Wait for several hours. Can you specify several hours? Would over ni...

Re: Scratches on the Top Cover

Could you explain briefly what your part does, and how it prevents scratching the top cover?

Print Quality Issue, PLA on PLA, Dual Extrusion

Hello everyone, I would like to do a dual extrusion with a white and a red PLA filament (Raise3D premium). I am printing at 200°C (both) and at 50°C bed temperature. I have selected a 0.2mm layer hight. I will try to attach the .gcode and .data, but have yet to find out how this is done. For an over...

Re: Multiple STL files, not on build platform, add support structure?

Thank you billbucket, I am using SolidWorks for the assembly. However, I want the dual print, where I can alternate the extruder from one layer to the other. As far as I know this is only possible to do, by importing different parts as different STL files and aligning them together. Unless I would n...

Scratches on the Top Cover

Hello everyone, I have recently added the guid tubes to my 3D printer after having issues with the filament snapping. Now I had a long run with these on, and it turns out they scratch the top cover of the printer. Very upsetting. Does anybody have a solution to this? I thought about pushing them fur...

Re: Calibration Box, Top Layers protruding

Hello Mustachio, it looks like I have already got an issue with ghosting. I went ahead and printed the part from this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaFp6Eqk0QI. It was not as bad as in the video, and it improved, after I put the printer down from a rather unstable table onto the stable...

Hello Robert,

I have the same issue with the official Raise3D red PLA filament. I was wondering if you have solved your problem by now?

Multiple STL files, not on build platform, add support structure?

Hello everybody, I am doing a dual extrusion "calibration box" currently. Meaning just a box with two different colours. I did this by piling up four smaller boxes. When I try to slice the box a message appears which reads: "file name of one .stl file" and other x models are not ...

Re: BuildTak damaged, which parts need replacement

Thank you Jetguy, you are the king of this forum! #1 I have put apart and reassembled the hot end system before, and I believe to have been successful. I used the Raise3D YouTube video to do so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hobwePlokQc #2 However I did not use the high temperature silicone grease...

BuildTak damaged, which parts need replacement

Hello everybody, unfortunately I managed to set my nozzles too low and thereby ruined the BuildTak. Now I wonder what parts need replacement. Is it only the BuildTak Bed Tape (e.g. https://www.bilby3d.com.au/DispProd.asp?CatID=&SubCatID=165&ProdID=ptTapeBTr3dN2), or do I need to replace othe...
