Re: Dense Support Layers at Bottom of Supports on Part

Vicky, I guess I don't understand how having denser supports on top of a surface that's already done printing would affect it's quality retroactively. Perhaps have two controls, one for dense top, one for bottom? It seems like a waste of material and time for the base of supports to have all those d...

Dense Support Layers at Bottom of Supports on Part

I've noticed that Dense Support Layers are generated at the BOTTOM of a support section when they are touching the top surface of your part. This seems undesirable and not what I would expect. In my opinion, the dense support layers should only be generated at the top of your supports just before th...

Combine Layers for Supports

Could we please get an option to combine support layers similar to how you can for infill? This could help shave lots of time off printing without any difference in part quality. Thanks! Combine Infill Layer refers that multiple layers of infill structure will be combined and printed with thicker la...

Re: Double infill before surface

100% agree on the need for this. I was looking for this feature just a few days ago to save lots of time and material on a huge print. By layer height only works if your part has a single top surface in one shared height, which is rarely the case.

Raise3D Premium PLA - Best Colors?

I've tried a few different colors of the Raise3D Premium PLA and it seems the red and yellow print a little cleaner than the Gray or White. Has anyone else experienced this? I also had GREAT success with the Art White but it never seems to be in stock. I'd be curious which colors others have had the...

Re: Brim/Skirt Ideas

Long time to reply, I know. It looks like the example image still shows a gap between the brim and the support solid base layers. I'm getting this same issue when I slice where the brim touches the part but is still spaced out from the support base.

PEI Build Plate - Rigid Underlayer Needed on N1?

I finally cracked my first glass sheet after 4 years of 3d printing, which was inevitable I guess. Luckily it was on my N1 and not the N2 and I have a spare glass. I do not, however, have any N1 sized BuildTak on hand and was about to order a 3 pack of 10x10" on amazon then cut to size. But the...

ZHop Loud on N2 Plus, Quiet on N1?

I've been using ZHop on Retraction for the first time the past few days on both my N2 Plus V2 (Kickstarter generation) and N1 V2 with Bondtech. For some reason, the N2 Plus makes a very loud "chachunk" on every z lift move but the N1 is much quieter and smoother. I'm also finding that with...

Re: Thermal Protector - Cable Won't Plug In

Jetguy, Thanks for the replies. This all checks out and my board header is definitely missing the pin even though I can't really see the inserted one in the connector. I suspect it's just down a little too deep to see clearly but actually there. I totally trust your guidance on this but will probabl...

Thermal Protector - Cable Won't Plug In

I'm trying to install the Thermal Protector into my N2 Plus and for some reason the connector from the original cable won't plug into the socket on the protector. I've checked the orientation and all the pins appear to be straight, but for some reason there's a lot of resistance when I try to mate t...

Thermal Runaway Error During Filament Load

I just got a Thermal Runaway error and restart while loading filament via the utility (215c) on my 2.5 year old N2 Plus. I've never had this before and have not installed the thermal protector upgrade. After reading several threads on the forums I have some ideas about what might be going on, but wo...

Re: Brim/Skirt Ideas

Brim for Supports – Simplify3D now allows adding a brim around your support structures, which adds even more surface area to hold down the edges of your supports. Use this in combination with the solid support base layers for an incredibly strong hold! Solid Base Layers – This new option allows you ...

Re: Share slice settings between filament types (and printers)?

I guess I don't understand why the profiles are segregated like this in the first place in IM's UI. It would also be nice to allow a slice profile to be assigned to a model (or models) in your IM project so when you open it later there's no guesswork about how it was sliced previously. This is even ...

Share slice settings between filament types (and printers)?

I'm not a fan of how IM segregates the different slicing profiles between each filament and printer type. This makes it very cumbersome to re-use carefully dialed in settings when you simply switch from Raise PLA to a 3rd party filmaent, etc. The same holds true for when you switch printers. The Imp...

Brim/Skirt Ideas

A couple of quick thoughts... 1. Do we really need separate brim and skirt settings? Why not have it be one setting and you define if it's a brim by choosing 0.0mm offset. 2. Is there a way to force brim/skirt generation on the inside wall of parts that have closed interior borders? If not, please c...
