Issues with Start of Print - Raise n Purge Not Happening

Postby TheDude » Sat Jul 28, 2018 7:14 pm

Hello Crew,

I've had a problem recently with the Pro 2 Plus. After I slice and upload wirelessly, I noticed on some occasions the printer will home as expected, but instead of then raising to a pre-set height and purging, it immediately screams off toward the print start position and over-travels to the bed, not ending at the correct height and starts to attempt the print, typically with an over-smooshed initial layer. I also noticed that the start position is off from the slicing software by an inch or so in X &Y.

I have been using "Editted" Slice Profiles, but no extreme edits, and NO edits of the G-Code section what so ever. It seems to happen consistently with larger Sliced models (35 MB plus).

Has anyone else experienced this? Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Are you using ideaMaker to slice your file for your Pro2 Plus? Have you edited any code underStartCode tab?
Does the same issue always happen with the same Gcode file? Or with the same Gcode file, sometimes printing works normally, sometimes shows abnormal.
If you recreate same issue with the same Gcode file, would you like to share the Gcode and Data file with us to test?

Vicky,

I'm using ideaMaker for the Pro 2 Plus. I've done no edits to the g-code tab whatsoever. The issue is repeatable with the same g-code file.

I'll re-create it and re-send to you.

Have you heard of this prior from other owners?

Thanks.

In my memory, I don't remember I have heard completely the same issue as you met if I don't have any wrong memory.
BTW, which version of firmwares you are currently running on your printer? Because I have heard that the initial version of the firmwares may include some bugs.

There are 2 versions because there are 2 totally separate but connected controller boards in these printers. This is true for both the N series and the Pro2 series. The difference is, both N and Pro use the same raise touch version, the motion controller is different so they use slightly different firmware on the motion controller board (2nd firmware listed).
Pictures show here along with download links (note, written for N series but 100% applicable to Pro series too).

You will likely want to check both as on the Pro2 series, there are still bug fixes happing since it is a new printer, and also the raise touch version is the LCD screen front end user interface software, and that too frequently has updated features you will be missing if you do not watch this forum and stay up with recent updates and discussions.

Hello
My Pro2 had just came back from my dealer for a maintenance because of the problems i had (the nozzle was scratching the part everytime).
Now the 10 first prints were ok but now i've got the same issue as "TheDude": the print starts without purging and then the raft 1st layer is very thick.
I've checked the distance between the nozzle and the plate and it's ok.
Ive also checked the Gcode and it's the same as old gcodes that i've printed and the sequence for the purge does appear (look below)
G21
G90
M82
M107
G28 X0 Y0
G28 Z0
G1 Z15.0 F6000.0
G92 E0
G1 F140 E29
G1 X20 Y0 F140 E30
G92 E0
G1 F6000.0
but when i launch the print it skips these lines and goes directly to the center to print so the first lines of the raft are not printed.
I've tried with 3 different parts and it does the same i don't know why.
I've got the last updates of Ideamaker and for the printer

May I have your gcode and data files to take a look?
If the issue only happens with your old files, please export them out from the printer and share with us.
Go to More Settings -> Privacy and Security to enable Enable Exporting Local Files to External Storage. Then you can export the local files in your printer to USB.

Thank you for your answer
I've never had this problem before tuesday.
But now it skips the purge sequence everytime.
I've checked "old gcode" files that had been made with a successfull purge and i compare it with my actual gcode files and i don't find any difference.
Where can i find the gcode in the printer ? Because i've connected an usb stick but the only export i've found was for the global log of the printer.

Hello
I had back the same problem but i've found the solution:
In one profile of material i've crossed the case "enable jerk control" and then the purge was not done.
I don't know why but if you enable this there's no purge.

I had this happen again recently, and it too was related to when I selected Jerk Control on.

Something is happening to not only truncate the g-code but also tweak the start point / height of the start of print.

Any insights from the software team Vicky?

Thanks!

Just checked with them. They have already debugged the main reason causing this issue. We can get things back to normal soon.

Vicky, did this get resolved with a Code / Firmware update? If so, when is that coming out?

Thanks

It should be related to firmware.
I don't have a clear schedule on hand currently as they are still tuning the settings.
