V2 Hot End Information and Q&A
UPDATE: V2 COMES STANDARD ON ALL NEW PRINTERS AFTER EARLY 2016
V2 Hot End Information
Key features of V2 hot end
1. Wilder filament compatible range
The best feature of V2 hot end is much wilder filament compatible range. We have tested various materials from various suppliers and they all printed very well.
2. Less back pressure when extruding
This makes extruding material easier. Hence the motor is less likely skipping, the filament is less likely to grind and it is less likely to cause air-print.
3. Better print quality
With V2 hot end, model has better surface quality.
Everything is on schedule and we have been taking pre-orders for while already.
Q&A
1. Does V2 hot end come as assembled?
Yes, it is.
2. Does V2 hot end need different heating rod and thermal couple?
No, it does not. You can use the same heating rod and thermal couple for V1 on V2 hot end.
3. Does V2 hot end have the same nozzle as V1?
No, it does not. V1 and V2 hot end nozzles are different from each other.
4. What kind of nozzle does V2 hot end come with?
0.4mm brass nozzle for now and we are developing nozzles with bigger diameter and different material.
5. How can I get V2 hot end?
Please send your request to sales@raise3d.com and we will help you from there. Anyone with V1 hot end will get 30% off on V2 hot end and KS backers get additional 10% off so total 37% off. (V2 hot end MSRP is $79.99 each.)
6. Do I have to switch to V2 hot end?
No, you don't. V1 hot end is also compatible with many different materials. All R3D filaments and PolyMaker filaments on our online store now are guaranteed to compatible with V1 hot end.
7. Is V2 hot end different size with V1 hot end?
V2 hot end and V1 hot end is very close on size. V2 hot end is about 2mm taller than V1 hot end.

Re: V2 Hot End Information and Q&A
another question I thought of,
will the stock fan from the V1 work with the V2 that is 2 mm taller now?

Not recommended to do such modification, especially change nozzle diameter as it requires change in slicing software also.

Jacob of 3DPrima (Sweden) just now told me that they won't distribute V2 Nozzles or the replacement leveling screws.
This means that EU users ahve to purchase directly at R3D and get the V2 from the PRC? Is this correct?
Unfortunately I get a SMTP-Error when sending an E-Mail to sales@... So I have to ask this in your FAQ section.

We have sent out a batch of V2 hotends from our factory this week by air. Our US warehouse is going to receive them in next two weeks. The hotends will be sent out to customers once in stock.
Re: V2 Hot End Information and Q&A
I'm hoping that "weeks" equals "days" since air mail is involved. or do you expect a long term at customs?

Re: V2 Hot End Information and Q&A
It is now about 3 weeks since i sent you guys a file that reliably choked V1 even with R3D filament. I have yet to hear that V2 successfully prints it using eSun or any other producers filament. As such I am getting a bit worried since in the past Raise3D has shipped products which did not perform as I was led to expect... i.e., any filament.
I sure hope V2 fixed the problems I have found. Problems that have now made my N2 useless for the kind of objects i have to produce with it..
