Dual Extruder printing With PLA Support

Postby EricPaugh » Tue Apr 17, 2018 12:58 pm

We seem to be having an issues printing support material (PLA Yellow - Extruder 2) and part material (PLA Gray - Extruder 1) at the same time. Before We started printing we double checked to ensure the bed was level and the set both nozzles at the same height. I have attached pictures of our print. We ran nozzle temperatures at 210C for each nozzle. We had it set to "all" support, with the Wipe wall. At one point it had even pulled the bed out of the notches and ripped the binder clips off. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Try printing at the lowest temperature you can to prevent ooze. Cross contamination due to ooze causes build up which then leads to nozzle strike, thus shifting and pushing your print around. Also try using a wipe tower instead of a wipe wall. Z-hop can help as well, though it will add to print time.

Also, why not print the support in just one PLA material with one extruder?

To be honest, a print that big and complex will be very troublesome to print with dual extrusion. Unfortunately dual extruders can't do everything. It's very limited to the type of object you want to print.
