PETG retraction settings

Postby Shelton » Thu Aug 02, 2018 2:54 pm

Could you share with me your retraction settings for PETG?

On my Raise PRO 2 PLUS printing almost perfect... but I want to avoid spider web prints.

I adjusted speed to 80 mm/s and retraction material to 2 mm or a little bit more.

I even went up to 120 mm/s speed but filament sensor was clogged after clicking noise from printing head... filament gears...

I was change coasting distance to 0.35 mm but the result is the same. Maybe Jetguy can help with it ;)

Other words I don't feel the difference after setting change.

I'm using the stock profile with only lowered jet temp to 240 C (Factory 250 C).

Mine were at 1.5 mm and had hardly any webbing with a single extruder and PETG.
With dual extruders I have it at 2.0 mm and still have yet to avoid the oozing/webbing.

I print almost exclusively in PETG and have found that stringing & oozing change drastically from brand to brand. I have tried a TON of PETG filaments - 3DXTech, Colorfab, eSun, MatterHackers, Inland, Makeshaper etc... So far my all time favorite is MakerGeeks PETG. It has proven to be stronger than the competition, while also has minimal stringing & oozing. I print @ 235 extruder temp & 80 bed temp. Retraction is 1.3mm for a 4mm nozzle and 1.5mm for a 0.6mm nozzle, both @ 1800 retraction speed. MakerGeeks PETG is ~$22/1kg spool which is a great price and shipping is free. They have been really hit or miss lately with processing and shipping orders timely and found out they have been having a ton of logistical issues with importing their resins which has caused delays and shortages. Just ordered another 10+ spools this week and they shipped the next day.

Good info. Thank you mate. I'm using Devil Designs with full success... only one issue with it. One spool at middle if filament has big bulb on it... and machine jam...
