Suddenly fan is not running

Postby ken yoo » Sun Mar 27, 2016 8:44 pm

I started printing and it was good for few hours.
But when I came back later, it was air printing.
I checked and found that the primary fan on the left side is not running.
I have single extruder N2.
How can I fix this problem?

check the fan for tiny pieces of plastic dust or debris that might hold it from spinning

If the fan stopped during a print, most likely it is something stuck in the blade or a fan failure.
Please check the fan and if nothing stuck in, unplug and switch with the right fan. If still not woking, then it is most likely a fan failure and we can start from there.

Just went through the same experience on a dual extruder N2. Fan stopped on the primary fan overnight and printed air most of the night. Filament appears to have softened and drive gear ended up breaking filament. Filament was free to move but the filament had a clear break at the drive gear and filament had a curved indent at the break. Fan not blocked by debris and was showing signs of slowing down days prior. Now in the process of replacing the fan.

I had a similar issue with one of my fans. Turns out that the wire had come out of the guide hole and had gotten pinched between the fan casing and the plastic duct. That pinching caused the wire to fail over time, which showed up as occasional slowing/ stopping and eventual total failure. Moral: Be careful of the wires. They are delicate.
