Brim/Skirt Ideas

A couple of quick thoughts...

1. Do we really need separate brim and skirt settings? Why not have it be one setting and you define if it's a brim by choosing 0.0mm offset.

2. Is there a way to force brim/skirt generation on the inside wall of parts that have closed interior borders? If not, please consider adding this feature.

3. Similar to #2, an option to create brims around support platform contacts would be brilliant. This would help lock them down, especially when you are not using a raft.

Thanks!

1. Well, this can be discussed by more users. From us, we think for kind of Brim which is a little bit special to be defined as skirt which is common to use. Although with 0 offset they are the same. But choosing it from drop list especially for beginners.
2. We will open an option for this.
3. Do you mean that sometimes the interior support structure doesn't have brim? If possible, would you like to share a sample file for us to test?

None of my supports that contact the bed have a brim. Is there an option to enable this that I may be missing?

Brim for Supports – Simplify3D now allows adding a brim around your support structures, which adds even more surface area to hold down the edges of your supports. Use this in combination with the solid support base layers for an incredibly strong hold!

Solid Base Layers – This new option allows you to specify the number of solid layers at the base of your supports. These solid layers greatly increases the connection between the supports and the bed, while still allowing you to use sparse fill for the majority of the supports.

In ideaMaker, the support structures will generate Brim, but between Support and Brim there has some gaps. Does the gap between brothers you?

The gap means there is no value in the brim around the support, if the goal is to improve bed adhesion.

You can enable the solid base layer under Support as you did in S3D.

Long time to reply, I know. It looks like the example image still shows a gap between the brim and the support solid base layers. I'm getting this same issue when I slice where the brim touches the part but is still spaced out from the support base.

We don't consider Support as the similar structure as model. And if you are looking for better adhesion, solid base layer for support should can help.
Or we can consider to change all the first layer of Support structure to be Brim if Brim option enabled in future version.
