Dual Color Cat

Postby 3DWP » Sat Jan 27, 2018 8:32 pm

I made a few of these dual color cat models by Nervous System: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:62536

They were made with Formfutura Premium ABS and one was smoothed with acetone and coated with clear glossy varnish.

That makes me want to print one right meow. I might use the Palette+ and try out infill pur ge settings. Also gives an excuse to use Polysmooth filament and the Polysher.

Not trying to take anything away from your print and it is really nice ABS acetone smoothed.

Also, considering a neat trick of using UV color changing filament that comes in multiple colors of change. It looks white in low UV indoor lighting, but changes color when exposed to high UV sources (blacklight, CCFL lights, and of course direct sun). They also make them in temperature changing. Just saying, fun stuff to try to take it to a whole new level for 2 color prints.

I said I would print this and so here it is in 2 colors of UV sensitive PLA. I went ahead and ran this on the N2 Plus with dual nozzles. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ETUTUHK

So here is indoor normal lighting showing it basically looks white.

Then the instant you get outside the massive UV color change really shows

And then back indoors just a little bit after being exposed, the color begins to fade back.
