Pelvis inside of a Crystal Dome

Postby Mecha_Monster » Sat Nov 18, 2017 10:04 pm

Hello.

I printed a Pelvis using Polymaker's PC-Max an put inside of a crystal dome. The floor of the dome is also 3D printed with PC.
I am very pleased with the results :)
The most worrying some part was the support between the vertebra, but it come out quite easily, like the rest of the support (and it required a lot). The trick is enabling dense support; 8 layers, 100% dense.

Did you use any special filament for support or just single nozzle to accomplish the main structure and support structure together at one time?
Do the tiny features work well with the support structure?
It is just for fun or use some other use?

Just for fun :)

I have a dual nozzle printer, but I never used the second extruder, I removed it. The support structures are of the same material; it really helps to use the dense support option and manually place pillars, I avoid leaving small gaps, which i found are a threat because cause rapid movements and filament retraction.

Actually.. I managed to print the pelvis twice, with different filaments. Bellow is the same pelvis, but larger and using ABS. The support structures come off all at once like big pieces.
(By the way, you can appreciate that the buildtak sheet is covered by a white plaster; that's dry super glue)
