TOP COVER Replacement N2+N2 Plus

Postby Billucas » Tue Mar 20, 2018 2:53 pm

Hey Guys! Here a preview for you. I will be back with more explanations later.
This is a printable N2 and N2 plus Top cover, that I designed in december.
A friend of mine has a N2 and they broke the cover. so I decided to draw one.
The Cover is one Inch taller. Could be higher, if we would like to.
All parts are printable at least by the N2, with no support. The lexan sheets are
rectangle and holded between in the printed parts and secured by the set-screws.
If you prefer, you don't need to take off all the cover. Just open the lid, which is holding by himself
on hinges. I printed some test parts for now. My friend is supposed to print every parts and see how it is going,
when they will have time. On my N2 Plus, mine is not broken yet, but as you know, it is possible.

Tell me what you think, please.

You may want to reconsider the height (assuming this matches the standard). There have been a few users, including myself, who would prefer it be a little bit taller.

I've modeled a lift for the over all cover.

Nice work. Consider doing one for the N1 as wel. That top cover is crazy low. The cables are scratching the lid.

That is beautiful. I second the above comment that you might want to consider making it taller. Once I started using the filament guide and tubing on my N2, I found that I needed to extend the lid by about 5-6 inches.

I like it, nice work! :)
Most likely I will build one as well, if you share the files ...

Thank you for your comments. I appreciate. We will print one and see how much it does weight. Because if we need to completely take it off, instead only opening the lid; it shall not be too heavy.

Preferably, it could be a lid that open at the right side, as the right's door for spools. I drawn another version with a opening to the right. See the pictures please.

I'd also be interested in printing this. I got my N2+ from a failed startup, so it came with all the functional bits but not the lid.
I top-feed from a PVC-pipe rig so the mods I'd probably make would be holes in the top to feed filament through and also a larger hole to attach a fume hood/duct to. Keep us up to date about your progress.

Thank you all for your good comments. You also make good proposals. I keep you informed.

If you just want to stop the cables from rubbing the stock cover, see my topic on this subject: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1773.

Very nice cover by the way!

Thank you JohnSays. Yes, I bought these PTFE tube recommended by Jetguy in the past. With my new Bondtech extruders,
the head is lower than the stock one, as you know. And in my Top cover design, I put one more inch on the height.

I finalised my drawings today and gave them to my friend. So he will print all the parts during next weeks. Order the lexan sheets.
And we will see how it is going! I will let you know!

I would like to integrate an air filter and holes access for an external spool.

Just checking in to see what the status of this is.
Are parts available for people to try printing yet ?

Dido. Any part drawings available? I want to make a much higher top for mine to accommodate the Palette+ gently bent feeder tubes. So I plan on going up 3 to 5 inches more and could use your drawings as a start to that process.

I'd be interesting in making one of these. Any chance the part files can be shared?

Thank-you!
