how to adjust the distance between the feed gear and the guide

Postby Jab136 » Tue Jan 16, 2018 10:28 am

so I have realized that a filament that I am trying to use is slightly too thin, and the gear cant properly grip it to feed it. is there any way to adjust the distance between the feed gear and the guide wheel?
Edit: just for reference, I just measured it and it is 1.69 mm diameter

Hi Jab136,

There is not much of an adjustment you can do but you can try to shift the motor on the extruder block. You could also shim the motor over on one side to bring the drive gear closer to the bearing. This will put a slight angle on the motor and drive gear but this is fine.

I think I am going to try putting some sort of heat shrinking material around the inside of the bearing in order to slightly increase it's diameter. I will let you know how it goes.
